I am comparing calibers to buy a new glock compact 9mm or 45?

Who has actually been in the situation where they've shot and killed someone who attacked them, and what Gun and Ammo did you have? Also, what problems did you have? I think the nine is light and quick to draw, and I can control my response better. My 45 is deadly accurate, but it is slow and heavy... and no I have never shot anyone.

9mm is WAY cheaper and funner to shoot. 2nd shot target aquisition is much better. ++p ballistics rival .40s&w.

I carry G36 .45acp daily IWB because it rides perfect on my frame. If the same gun specs came in 9mm, id be carrying it.

If I was buying a pistol tomorrow, it would be a 9mm (Sig or Glock) or a .380 (sig).

People get a little nutz over caliber, and it typically leads to an ego-driven myopic viewpoint. For concealed carry and plinking, think "function, comfort, affordability". This equation will typically lead to a mid-sized glock 9mm.

You don't need either one, the Glock .40 caliber models 22 and 23,27 is the caliber of choice for 75% of all Law Enforcement agencies, before you ask, no it's not new, it's been around for close to 20 yrs. The round is officially called the S&W .40

In a combat situation...whatever you feel comfortable with. For my off duty weapon I carry a glock 9mm. Its small, and in a gunfight, at 20 feet...your shooting accuracy drops from 99 percent to about 15%. Ok maybe I'm exagerrating. But at about 25 feet I hit the guy only 3 times with a 15 round clip and one in the chamber....and only the last one was a enough to drop him. That was with a heavy smith and wesson. For personal carry...odds are that any shooting you will do will be under 10 ft. But if you go 9, check state laws and if you can go with hollow points so that the bullet doesnt pass through and hit someone else. After all it is a supersonice round. If I was regulated to the 9, I'd probably carry a 40 cal.

I would have to say that the Glock model 23 is by far better then the any glock 9mm or 45. The model 23 is a compact model and shoots a 40cal round. Its light and easy to conceal, but at the same time, it still has the stopping power needed to stop someone. The 40cal round is heavier then the 9mm but not as heavy as the 45. It can easily travel farther then the 45. If the model 23 is too small for you, check out the model 22, its also a 40cal. Its what most law enforcement agencies carry in Southern California.
