I am interested in become an FBI Agent or DEA Agent but my father was a drug kingpin?

My long term goal is to become an FBI AGent or DEA Agent. Im a senior in college after graduation i will be joining the military as an officer to build my resume for the FBI or DEA. I also will be working on my masters degree in Criminal Justice while in the military to make be even more competitive for the FBI or DEA. Only problem is my father is a former Drug KINGPIN who is serving a 15 year sentence in a federal prison. He has about 5 years left will this kill my chances of achieving my goal of becoming a

I have never been in trouble with the law. I will apply for an internship with the FBI for next summer but internship with the FBI is just as tough as getting a job with them so this something like plan A,B,C. What would be a good master degree for the FBI?

sounds like ROTC so you have to do military. While there do forget CJ. Go for a law degree and get into the militarily's excellent language programs, if you have that talent. Both are preferred by FBI and DEA.

You family background can actually help at DEA. I know a couple of DEA agents who have family l backgrounds that were shady. One of them was actually recruited by DEA out of college.

You're not going to shine with a criminal justice degree. Everyone and their mother has those.

Nor will having a military background help too much, except for how quick you get a job in the security field. You want to stand gates and check ID cards for the FBI or DEA?

You're better off getting an internship. Having on the job experience is much more valuable than past military experience. You can actually apply now for the internship and I would highly recommend you do so.

And what happens if you don't make it in the military? It's so easy to get kicked out these days and that will really mess up your chances at a nice job in the future.

Well with all that experience its unlikely but they may be cautious if your dad was a drug kingpin, you should most certainly be able to get the job an less you ever get some sort of criminal record.

To join the FBI your parents had to be born in the US and both have a clean record.
