Uhh at your age now it's known as moving out if your 18 and above.

Mr. Goodkat
Haha at 18 you are legally an adult, and can live wherever the hell you want.

It's moving out.. and I suggest you do it in an adult manner. Discuss it with your parents.

Go ahead. Many kids get kicked out of the house at 18 anyway.

It's not a very good idea to just move out (you're technically not running away). You should stay, unless your safety or health is in danger. I used to think about the same stuff when I turned 18. Then I got some experience in the "real world".

You sound very naive, and now that these other fine folks have disabused you of the notion that an 18 year old is still a child, while you're free to go, I think it's going to be a little more difficult out there for you then you might imagine. The best plan for you, rather than running away, is to have a job and place to live waiting for you in your new location, and the way to do that, and possibly also to get your parent's approval and possible financial help, is to apply to attend junior college there with a plan for a certificate or two year training leading to a career you're interested in. If your parents refuse to help, by all means, apply for a student loan. Your school counseling office or the junior college counseling office should know all about these things and be able to help you apply for college, choose an educational path, apply for student loans, and even find housing and a job.

For psychological advice: Now that you're free, you may be tempted to try to latch onto someone, like this girlfriend, and expect her to take care of you, not quite like your mom, but yeah, kind of. And she may very well get sick of it as soon as she turns 18, gets a taste of freedom and meets some new people where she goes to school or works. So I wouldn't rely on her. Become independent 100%, that's your number one goal as an adult. Rely on your common sense, an education in a useful skill, and your friends and family to back you up and you'll do fine.

I tried to move out twice at 20 yrs old, but no luck. It's completely not as much as easy as it sounds, trust me. You need to do extensive research and planning before you decide to move out. I had money but I didn't have any place to go, but I guess you do. My advice, don't move somewhere unless you are assured that someone you know is willing to accpet you in his or her house. Last but not least, better be safe than sorry. Good luck.

If you have to ask obviously you are an immature 18 year old..Perhaps in the US your not old enough to drink but can go to war and die for your country, A contradiction of course but maybe if reading your post gives an insight into the American 18 year old thinking, its not a bad idea!

The day you turn 18 you may walk out that door and never return. You are an adult in the eyes of the law. You are also soley responsible to have knowledge of things such as laws, taxes, signing up for the Selected Service. You can be ordered to pay child support if you get someone pregnant. You can be arrested and jailed for dating and bedding anyone one under 18. You can be taken to jail for forgetting to pay any kind of ticket. Just thought Id cover certain things that become applicable.

I suggest you handle your situation with alittle more maturity or you might have reality slapped into your face.

But, yeh, you can move out at 18... Personally, I waited until I was married and then moved to the other side of the world :P

Edit: Also for note, your guardians/parents/etc don't have to let you move back in either. You are officially responsible for yourself.

At the very least wait until you are finished with school. A lot will also depend on how old your girlfriend is. If she is younger and still living at home, then her folks may not be too excited about a strange guy moving in.

I also agree with one of the other posters that said if you are not in immediate danger, then you should wait. It might help if you let folks know why you are so anxious to leave.

When you turn 18 you are legally an adult. No you cannot get arrested.

I concur with the others who answered this question. You are considered an adult at 18, and if you leave home, you are not considered a "run away". Should no one hear from you for several days, you might be reported as a "missing person" by your parents and/or girlfriend.

i just turn 18 today and now a days its hard to make a livivng. If you have enough money and havea steady job then you should think this threw long and hard (thats what she said). I know its not my buissness but if you have problems with your parents because i have some with my parents too but i dont have enough money or a steady job but as soon as i make enough money and have a good job then yeah. I advice you about 19ish but thats just me

It's called "moving out" and it's totally legal. Generally, people get jobs and save enough money to rent and furnish an apartment. I don't know why you think there's anything special about moving out... do you mean elope? That's also pretty easy. Just go down to the courthouse, pay the fee for the license, sign the paper, and go through the procedure with the official.
