I am SO scared. so there was this issue last year with a lady we (me and my ex) sold laptops too. she wanted her money back we told her the sale was final. so she sued me basiclly. my ex went to court and was freed and it was all on me. i was scared and didnt have the money to pay her (im not working right now. im a sub teacher and havent gotton much work latley) so i didnt go to court.. ive never been in trouble before and was scared. so today i get home and i have a letter saying i have to show up in court a week from now to surrender myself to be arested because i never went to court ( or payed her? maybee, im not sure why exactly but one of those things im assuming) it says " i hold a capias for your arrest and am assigning you a mandatory court date" then it says that im pretty much being arrested.. im SO SO scared.. i CANT go to jail. im not a trouble maker and never have been to jail before.. i dont know whats goign to happen does anyone know? are they going to put me in jail? please help!

yeah i never said they were broken.. they were not. if you have to know the REASON was because they did not come with power cords.. i went to school at the time and they were laptops i had built (refurbed) for a project. i had three and she wanted them for her neice.. i gave her 3 laptops all with 1gig of ram and 120 gig hd for 150 bucks... and TOLD her they had no power cords and she would have to buy them.. i am NOT a bad person but i refused to give her her money unless she sent me back the laptops.. she wouldnt.. so im a bad person for not giving someone free laptops? or trusting that those would be sent back after i refund her? no. i told her about the cords.. therefore was not about to deal with it.. and she sued me.

That is called failure to appear(fta) and is also contempt of court. The best thing you can do is show up for this court date. Or there will probably be a bench warrant out for your arrest. It is very important that you go. |
