I got a speeding ticket..can u help me?

My first ever time in court.. the judge talked a million miles a second. I timidly said, "uh, what?" Then she said it again. All I caught was, "Guilty or not guilty." So, I said, "Guilty." Her instructions on what to do next were much clearer. :-)
So I paid and that was that.

I have gotten speeding tickets, since. Carelessness on my part.. sometimes I've requested defensive driving. Other times, I just kick myself and go pay the ticket before the court date.

They don't DO anything to you.. very routine to them. You know you were wrong... you might request defensive driving... it'll end up costing you about the same (cost of school plus cost of court fees), but it'll lower your car ins. by 10%. And the cost and experience of the whole ordeal will make you leave earlier and drive slower... until you get careless again.

**EDIT** Yeah, that was pretty excessive speed. Kick yourself for doing it, then get back up, dust yourself off, deal with the ticket, and learn from the experience.

First of all your very lucky you did not go to jail, I automatically jail anyone no matter the reason for traveling over 25-30mph, but since you did not go to jail, your looking at a fine and or community service, or ask the judge if you could take a defensive driving course in lieu of a fine or community service...??? They're going to make you pay a fine, and you may have to go to driving school. Its not that big of a deal.

since its ur first ticket u may have a fine & ordered 2 driving school, or just pay a fine but it b a pretty penny

If it's your first time it depends on the judge.....in most cases they just have you pay up and prove again that you had insurance ...don't worry

wow are you LUCKY only (because it is your first one)!
I would just pay it and learn from it.please don't be mad at me for saying it but,just be a lot more careful. be glad no one was injured with their body.ok?

You might be able to reduce the fine amount by going to defensive driving.

But that's all you'll get - is a fine.

Don't ever forget - being late is MUCH better than being dead due to an accident due to speed.

I'd research the # of traffic fatalities due to speed - and maybe show that you've done the research - and have realized that you really cou ld have done some major damage to families.....

I don't know if this will help but sometimes if you go on ahead before your court date and catch the judge, he will lower your fine You were going 32 miles over the speed limit so I don't know that there's anything that can be done. All he can do is say no so it's worth a try I got caught goig 64 in a 45 mile speed limit and I went to the judge and he lowered my fine and I didn't have to go to court. You aren't the first nor will you be the last to be caught for speeding. Just plead no contest, pay your fine and learn from this experience.

Call it a lesson learned, you didn't kill or injure anyone,yet,so pay the fine and pay attention to what you are doing.
It could be worse, my neighbor was driving fast and hit a just married couple, the bride died. There are much worse things that could have happened, so chalk this one up in the Lesson Learned part of your mind.

Everyone speeds once in awhile, just be glad this is your first, & the judge won't come down as hard on you. On the back of the ticket, there's usually a code that shows the fine. Defintely go to court, & look presentable, be very, very civil, don't argue with the cop (who will probably show up). I had a ticket for "obstrucking traffic," reason being someone stopped flat out in front of me as I was crossing on the green light. By the time I pulled over (cop followed me) I was so shook up I putmy head on the wheel & I said "Now I understand what road rage is all about!" Big mistake. I'd probably gotten off entirely without that! As it was, first ticket, the judge cut the fine from $180.00 to $50. It didn't go on my record, but I'm not sure about speeding. Just stay as cool as you can. It's not as bad as you may imagine. By the way, the answer from the other DRAGON is a clone. I try to HELP not be nasty.

Since this was your first offense, you may not have to appear in court, just pay the fine. It depends on where you are located. More than once tho, you will have to go to court.

Did the police officer just mention it as an infraction, or did he tell you it's a mandatory court appearance? If it is the former, then relax - just pay the fine and you don't have to worry about it again.

I got my first speeding ticket a couple years ago and I paid my fine and that was it. I suspect you will get a huge fine since I am sure they will want to send you a loud message.......I think you sound like you learned your lesson and the fact that you feel so bad so too. When you go to court show your remorse and be prepared for a big fine. I don't think they will do anything else but I don't know. Don't beat yourself up too bad just remember this and watch your speed. You could have been killed or killed someone else. Good luck!

go court, try to fight it, they wil give you a warning, and cut the fine to half.... you should pay that.... if they make you pay the full fine, then sugest you pay it by mail, and when this occurs... you mail them $1 extra of the fine you were given, and they then they will have to send you a check of $1 back for the extra, do not deporsit this check,, and the record will not show up because the transaction will never be processed.
