I got a ticket just for not wearing my seat belt, is there anything i can say in court to get it dismissed?

Say you took it off to reach over to your glove box to get your registration and insurance as you know the officer would ask for it and when he/she got to your window they sighted you for not wearing a seatbelt and although you tried explaining this to the officer they still gave you a ticket...

No, don't waste your time or the courts. If you can't pay on time make sure you get in touch with the court to inform them and they will usually cut you a break as far as the added fine for late payment. Like extend the time you have to pay, before the fine kicks in.

Yes. You must prove to the court that the vehicle you were driving was not equipped with seatbelts at the time of manufacture, or that the seatbelt was inoperable. Since all automobiles in the US have been equipped with seatbelts since the late 1940's, you would have to prove that the seatbelt was inoperable.

The officer will usually make notes that there was a seat belt present, it was not in use at the time the citation is given.

Removing the seatbelt, or rendering the safety device inoperable is a crime in California. Its in the vehicle code.

Take it as a lesson learned for the price of the ticket. Better to pay ticket than get into an accident without wearing belt.

The only thing you can say is that you were wearing your seatbelt. If it's not true though, you could get in much bigger trouble.

Ebay, if there were easy way out of our legal responsibilities there would be no order or justice in this world, so sorry but there's nothing you can say to make it just disappear, and if you were summoned to court it's probably not your first time not wearing your seat belt, so please obey the law if you don't want to pay the legal consequences.

just apologize to the judge and ask for a smaller fine...thats your best bet..dont try to fight it, judges arent stupid and if you try, they will give you a bigger fine

Well i can tell you i got out of mine. If you have it on BEFOR their lights are on then you are good. Once the lights come on their cam starts recording. I had gotten pulled over fer not wearing my seat belt, went to court, and told them it was on. Just remember to DENY not wearing it, the more you deny it and their mic catches it the better off you are. Thats how i got out of it. Just a tad bit of information
