I got caught shoplifting.. please help?

Hi, im 12. i went shopping with my cousin yesterday. She got caught shoplifting at urban behavior. After, the 2 guys checked her bag and brought us to the back of the store.
he asked me if i stole anything 3 times but i lied and said no. But after I started getting scared when he said the word "jail" and i started crying and told him the truth and gave him everything i stole.
Both of them explained to us that they followed us into 3 other stores.
So now im banned from that mall untill im 18. and im not allowed to go into those other stores in other malls for a year.

I'm really scared... and he said that i will have a hard time getting job when im older... Is that true? and when will my record will be cleared up??
please help me..
Additional Details
btw, isn't that kind of harsh...? 6 years not being able to go to that mall...

and all of the things that i stole in my whole life was,
pencils, pens, bathing suit, some clothes, make up. etc.
i threw all of those things away, and im not going to steal ever again!

First of all, you have to admit that what you did was WRONG. There's no other way to go around it: you stole something. It's one of the Ten Commandments, you took something that was in no way yours. But you are obviously feeling regret: you know that what you did was wrong, which is good. And that means that you probably won't ever do it again.

If you are only 12 years old and only stole something from Urban Behavior, then it obviously isn't as bad as some 30 year old and Grand Theft Auto. You can try going to a judge and asking them to remove that from your record. As for the mall..... you probably won't get around not being able to go back in. I don't think you'll have a really hard time getting a job... but make sure you own up to what you did, or you'll seem like a liar. Also, don't do anything else. Don't steal, drink, do drugs, or that record will just get worse. Maybe do some volunteer hours.

Good job admitting that what you did was wrong. In the meantime, talk to your parents and earn back their trust. Fight the urge to take something or steal. Pray to God and ask him to forgive you. And consider not hanging around with your cousin if she's a bad influence.

God bless and good luck !

You mention nothing about Police being called. Without that there is no criminal record. Try this site they work with accused shoplifters

That's is true and you did not need to be shoplifting in the first place and you old enought to know better!

Well, don't try and sound innocent. You stole, your fault. OK enough of being rude, if you stole it WILL show up as a felony or misdemeanor, one of those 2, and it does make it difficult to get a job. I applied for a nice job (I'm 14) and even they ask that. So yeah good luck getting a job and stuff when they realized you've stolen stuff, there's really no way to erase your record, your at the mercy of your would-be employers.

Good luck

He's right about the job thing! You don't want a criminal record. In the past, as long as you weren't a serious, hardcore criminal, you could still find decent work. Now, with a tough economy and everything being available on computer, you'll have to be squeaky clean to be able to do anything by the time you turn 30. Not just criminal records, but your health record and your credit report will also play a huge role in your standard of living in the future.

Once you turn 18 you can seal your record. Which means that any crimes you've committed under the age of 18 will disappear and no one will know about it. Sort of like a second chance. Even when you apply for a job and they do a background check, shoplifting or any other crimes will not show. It's takes about six months for it to be officially sealed and there are a couple fee's. I had to pay 85 dollars in total but it's worth it. Don't worry about it you seemed to have learned your lesson and you'll be FINE(:
