I got caught stealing from walmart and i want to know will it go on my record?

okay, im 17 and i got caught stealing from walmart, i stole a total of 20 dollars worth of stuff, they didn't call the cops they just got my information (name adress number social security.etc.) they said i was going to get a fine in the mail but i haven't recieved anything, so am i really going to get a fine and will it go on my record??

Ok dont pay anything you get in the mail. Their "fine" is not through the police. It is a trick to get you to pay them money for your crime. If they didn't call the police then it will NOT go on your record.
Dont shoplift again and dont go back to that walmart for at least 2 years (to avoid problems with management). if they got their stuff back then you dont need to pay them anything.
If they mail you a fine DO NOT pay it. Throw it away. If they dont send it certified mail (meaning the post office asks you or someone in your house to SIGN for it) then they have no proof you received the fine.
You are still a minor. Probably because you are 17 they didnt bother calling the police. If a certified letter comes to your house (mail man asks you to sign) refuse it. Say you refuse the letter. And dont let your family sign for it.
Most likely they wont bother paying for certified mail. So then you can pretend like you NEVER got their fine. Seriously dont pay it. And dont go back to walmart, at that location, for a few years. Never steal again and you wont have to worry.
