Chances are you'll be fine. If you've got a good lawyer and no previous charges related to operation of a motorized vehicle, you'll get off easy. The private property part is going to mean a great deal in your favour when it comes trial time, if this even makes it to trial. |

Welcome Isabella! March 30!

Aww...that is terrible. Did you explain to the police officer that your Mom has a hard time walking and you had just dropped her off and were parking the car? If I was the cop I would have been more understanding of that. If he thought you were lying he could have gone into the theater with you and asked your Mom. Maybe at your court date your Mom can tell the judge exactly what happened and he won't take away your license. The ticket you deserve, yeah I know, you didn't see it but that isn't really an excuse in the eyes of the law. Good luck and I hope you get to keep your license. |

Well i don't think, you'll have to wait until you're 19... not for a stop sign.... |

Realistically, if you are a decent student and a goo dkis, you are looking at paying some fines and having it dismissed. AFTER a good scaring from the judge. Don't listen to the cop - he's just trying to scare you.
ps. That it was on private property is important. Check the exact wording of the state statute on your ticket. |

I don't see you having to wait till your 19 to get ur license. You will how ever deff have a ticket to pay. & you may have to take a driving class. It doesn't matter where the sign was. If it's viewable & u didn't stop u ran it.. Sorry.. But as for not getting ur license till ur 19 I think that cop was just trying to scare you from doing that again.. |

damn i hate cops...tell the judge ur situation, that ur mom has arthritis and u dropped her off cloer while u parked the car...there pretty lenient...say it was common courtesy because of ur condition. and if ur turning the stop sign doesnt apply to you...at least i dont think so...people turn all the time and dont stop...and tell them you were just parking...i got pulled over by the cop at a hospital because i was dropping off my grandpa cuz hes old and i went to park and the cop ave me a ticket for not having an adult in the car when i had my permit, being in a red zone, and not signalling....who the crack would pull me over in a parking lot while dropping off an old person closer to the hospital and not signalling in a parkinglot...there is only one way you can go why would you signal
ne way i told the judge my story that i was dropping off my elderly grand father and thousands of people load and unload passengers and it was a one way roundabout with no one it it why would i signal and i was parking the car like 30 ft away from the round about in the handicapped space
i also got a ticket for j walking today and i asked the cop if he would give his family a jwalking ticket and he said no so i will tell the judge that |

Don't worry about you license, your attorney is right. Explain the above to the judge, he'll probably cut you some slack. |

Well, you may want to enlist the aid of a lawyer to plead guilty. A stop sign, is a stop sign. Now if it were leaning, or worn away, etc, maybe a good lawyer could win. But I am sure it will also cost $500 - $1000 for the service. Several hundred to plead. The reason you should get a lawyer is that that person can do all the talking for you, and won't be a nervous stampering kid. (sorry, no offense intended) I am sure it will just be a warning, and a fine. DONT DO IT AGAIN. Next time, much, much worse. |

You are looking a one big mess. You can not take your driving test without your permit which was revoked when you got the ticket. So when you go to court it is very likely that the judge can make you wait until you are 19 to get your license. Ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking the law. That is what a judge will tell you. |

It depends on what state.
See, I'm in Ohio and I didn't have my temps, I stole my moms car and wrecked it. I got mine suspended for a year. You should pay attention next time. I wouldn't worry too much, other than court costs and maybe getting suspended for a little while. Also, is this your first offense? |

Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Even I'll admit your excuse is better than average, but the fact remains that you were committing a violation.
Use the attorney and go with the truth. Actually both the officer and the lawyer are right ... The lawyer is giving you the best case scenario, the officer is giving you the worst case scenario. What actually happens will probably be somewhere between these two extremes.
There was NO other licensed driver available to ride with you? For future reference, the fines you will probably pay would have bought several tickets to the theater. Next time, offer to pay for another licensed driver's ticket to the theater, and bring them along! That way you will have a "properly licensed driver" supervising you when you park!
Watch those stop signs! |

First of all do not worry. Everybody makes mistakes. If you received a ticket, plead not guilty, you always do that no matter what the case. Chances are the officer wont show up and the judge will either dismiss your case or have you pay the fine. Remember to tell the truth and always talk politely. And most importantly listen to your attorney. Good Luck! |

eIf you have a hardship permit because of your mothers health it would help.... Was the stop sign coverd up by tree limb, or something else!! If so, you have a chance to win this .... take pictures of what happened. No matter what age or having a permit or regular license... running any stop sign will get you a 300.00 ticket . Try to get community service and work it off at an assisted living for the elderly. I think after you do that they will let you have your license as long as you take drivers ed.
Good luck |

As I understand your question you broke the law but you had an excuse. If you have an excuse to break the law does that make it ok? Don't blame the Leawood cop you are the law breaker, he is serving & protecting. You need grow up before you drive a car on public streets or you might find an excuse to hurt or kill somebody. You also need to learn how to use capital letters. |
