No stopping on the shoulder does not mean when you are being pulled by an officer.
He may have got a more important call to take care of.
Look for your citation in the mail. |

If it was you they wanted, they would have turned on the loudspeaker and in no uncertain terms told you to pull over. What you were supposed to do was pull to the right to get out of their way. |

he would have stoped you if you did something wrong believe they will stop you |
|

YEAH!!!!
 |
The officer was not trying to pull you over. The police officer will not just give up if you don't pull over. They will continue to follow you until you stop. You are fine so don't worry about it! |

No....you need to stop whenever the police flashes lights behind you!!!!!!!!!!!!! You might have been doing something wrong that you didn't even know you were doing! If you had stopped, and if it was something minor, he wouldn't have given you a ticket, possibly just a warning. and......110 mph zone. WOW! |

Mike

well if you werent breaking a speed minimum then you're ok ... but ur supposed to pull over anyways if a cop has his lights on behind you |
|

Dan

Lol it was proberly 110 kilometers an hour. Thats funny.. |

In America, when the lights come on behind you, you are to pull to the right as soon as it is safe to do so.
This will allow the officer to pass you if he isn't pulling you over, or will allow the officer to initiate his traffic stop.
You failed to yield to an emergency vehicle, which is a crime. Nothing you wrote above shows reasonable doubt as to your guilt. If you are charged, you could try explaining things to the judge, but you will likely be convicted. |

If he didn't pull you over and issue a citaion (ticket), then you probably won't be getting one in the mail (at least you wouldn't where I live, or have lived in the past).
He was probably wanting you to pull over so he could pass you. This is one of the things you must always do, is to yield the right-of-way to a police officer or emergency vehicle when their emergency lights are flashing.

You are still supposed to pull over even if he just want to pass. He might have been on the way to the scence of an accident and you were slowing him down. idiot |

I'm amazed how many idiots on here think that you mean 110 MILES per hour.
Anyway, you should always pull over because if they're behind you with lights on then that means they either want you or they are just trying to get past you. It might have even been for something like a broken tail light. ALWAYS STOP, even if you aren't doing anything wrong. |

well not just going over the speed limit gets you pulled over if you go under to far or he or she wanted to stop you because of the accident the do do that sometimes s oether one is possible .If they dont go around you with the lights on you always stop hope this helped -sean |

If he wanted to pull you over, he would have kept following you and called for back up.
But even if your not doing anything wrong if a police officer is behind you with his lights on....pull over, untill he passes! not pulling over is asking for trouble, and against the law |

I presume that you were doing 80kph in a 110kph zone.
What will happen depends on:
1) what the policeman was theoretically going to pull you over for.
If the policeman was going to pull you over for something minor and got distracted by another more serious offense, he is VERY unlikely to take action against you.
2)where you were (country/state/jurisdiction)
In some jurisdictions, there are too many tickets being issued on a daily basis to care about tickets that were NOT issued unless it was a serious offense.
If the officer thought it was that serious he would have made that clear. There would be no doubt in your mind.
3)Who owns the car.
Any action to be taken would usually be directed at the owner of the car first. There is an extended process before it all gets down to the driver. Again, this process is not something an officer would go through for a minor infraction. |

Aren't you supposed to pull to the side of the road when a vehicle with flashing light's is behind you- so they can get by?
that's how it is in the United States at least... |
|

Jem
|
I'm sure your ok, but next time pull over, even if it says no stopping on shoulder. they have the right away when there lights are on so best to move in any situation even it it's not to pull you over. |

Trust me, if a cop wanted to pull you over, they would pull you over. The fact that he didn't wind up in your driveway is a good sign. You shouldn't need to worry.
In the future though (and this does change by state), even if a road says no stopping, it's perfectly fine to stop and let a cop go by (most states make this a law). |

Well, whenever a cop has flashing lights, you need to either pull over or stop. Since there was no where to pull over, I would have turned off onto another street or stop right there. As far as persuing you, I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't look like he was after you, if you kept going and he didn't keep persuing you you're fine. If he was after you and you kept going, you would have had a lot more cops following you. You would know that he was after you. If you do get a ticket you do have the option of going to court, or paying the fine. If you go to court the fine may be higher if you lose. In most states if you do go to court to contest the ticket and the cop does not show usually the court will throw out the ticket and not fine you. But I think you're fine. |

lol..this is funny. i think your ok.. if he/she really wanted to stop you believe me, you would've been stopped.

If it was YOU he wanted to stop, no way would he have just let you go. He would have chased you down. It was probably someone else he was after. Sometimes it looks like they are after YOU, but they're not. You're ok I bet. |
|

Cracka please
|
If they really are going after you they will continue to follow you until you stop your car. They wouldn't simply write you a ticket by taking your license plate number. The only remote ticketing that I know of is done by high speed cameras at busy intersections. |

I'm guessing that 110 and 80 refer to kilometers not mph. Anytime, a cop turns on his light, you should just slow down and if he stays behind you then its you he wants. Otherwise he will pass. Its probably nothing because they're good about not allowing you to evade them and you weren't even trying to. He could have jotted down your plate number and if he did, then you will probably get a ticket in the mail. You can always contest tickets. Wait and see what happens. |
|

People get tickets sent in the mail to them even from planes catching speeders. You can contest them though. However, you are in a different scenario with a bike cop.
I know of my grandma who has gotten a ticket removed, as well as a friend. |

Best thing to do is to be totally honest and agree to any thing the officers says you did unless you know point blank you didn't do that particular thing. And you probably will be getting a ticket and a court date soon so be prepared. Good Luck. |

Pattywoowoo
 |
No your not in trouble, if he was after you he would have got you no matter what. Haven't you seen those car chases, they just don't say," Oh well he didn't want to stop". It was probably a maneuver to get the cars to slow down because of the accident ahead. Don't worry and keep driving safe. |
|

Good Luck
 |
Well dear you should have stopped. It doesn't matter if you were speeding or not. What if there was a body under your car? You don't know why he's pulling you over. No, He won't send you a ticket in the mail. He would have kept going after you if he wanted you, trust me. If it is a bad area to pull over, put your flashers on until you come to a good area to pull over. You can pull off on the shoulder even if it says not to. Just make sure your pulled over far enough.
Good Luck |

You probably should have slowed down and pulled off to the side of the road a bit to see if it was you that he really wanted. If you get a ticket, you'll have to go to court to pay it off, and you could plead your case, but otherwise there's nothing you can do.
As for those that are wondering about the 110 speed limit. I'm assuming it was KPH not MPH |
