It will not automatically disqualify you. However, every department does their own hiring and most can choose between many well-qualified people. If it came to a choice between you and someone who had never been arrested, most agencies would go with the one that didn't have a potential anger problem that required extensive investigation. On the other hand, if you were applying to some small agency that was desperate for people, you might have a shot. |

been there done that

I hope not. Anyone prone to violence of any kind should not be in a position of corporal authority. |

I hope not. If you're prone to violence in a domestic situation, you're going to be prone to violence in police work, which is by its nature far more violent. |

Oh sure cops are famous for being wife beaters, look at that guy from the midwest who is suspected for killing 2 or 3 wives. If not for being a cop he probably would have been caught long ago. |

Not in Arizona... this is an automatic disqualifier. Most dept will not even consider you if the police were called related to domestic violence regardless of arrest or conviction. |

All aspects of your background will be looked at. Multiple arrests will tell the investigator that something is not right in your background and temperament. |

I hope not. I have some experience with violent officers. They can make a person's life hell. There are mental problems that defiantly show through the violence and aggression.
Maybe the military would take you. I believe some officers come out the service when applying. If they don't let you apply now, maybe that's the way to go for you. |

There would be no way. It simply will never happen, they legally can only look at convictions but trust me they will see your arrest record and pass you by. You would be a walking liability for any department. |

Try it - they will tell you |

Sure, as long as you don't have any competition from applicants who haven't beaten their girlfriends or their wives. Good luck with that. |

I think it depends where you live. Here in L.A. they have hired people with D.U.I. and worse offenses, as long as you don't omit to anything you have done and have a good explanation some departments will hire you. |

Typically, they look at convictions, so if you have none, then you may be able to still be a police officer. HOWEVER, many depts see that many arrests for the same crime, I'm betting that they will turn you down (mine would). Call the dept you want to work for and ask. |

Actually, your history of violence would be considered a plus. |

I believe domestic violence is a requirement?! I bet you get a pat on the back and moved right up to the new cruiser for that!
I'm glad you got her to marry you, you stud you! |

I don't see why not. Where I live, I think participating in beating on the wife is a pre requisite for being a police officer. I think you will fit in just fine. |

Sure. Sounds like you fit the profile perfectly. |
