I have tricked my neighbors - can I get in trouble for this?

I got my grandson to download a whole bunch of barking dog mp3s and I put them into a big list on itunes on my computer. I play it and turn my speakers up as loud as they'll go and I leave it on when I leave to try and torment my neighbors, because they are loud too, huh? That's mostly why I don't like any of them, it is not because they are fat which is why they think I don't like them.

Part of my plan is that they might come talk to me one day about my dogs being too loud and I can just be all like "what dogs? I don't have dogs" - and by the way I DID ask them to please be quieter, and I brought over cookies when I did it too and they still are loud. But can I get into trouble for this or no?

Only if someone calls the police because you are violating a noise ordinance. I think you would just get a warning the first time. I would keep coming up with creative and passive-aggressive ideas to torment the neighbors though:) Sounds like a good time!

Loud noise coming from your house is loud noise coming from your house, regardless if you actually own the dogs or not.

It could still be peace disturbance.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Discuss the problem with your neighbors and be honest. If they still keep making a lot of noise, tell them you are going to register a complaint. If that doesn't work, register a complaint.

For noise complaints,yes you can get in trouble,but then again,they can't call on you when they are making noise too.

The only way you can get in trouble is if you surpass the noise ordinace. I dont know what it is in your area. but usually any noise that can be heard outside the house after 10pm or on a consistant basis.
Instead of giving them a 'taste of their medicine' just call the cops on them if they are breaking the ordinance..they will get the message and if the repeat the violation they will have to pay a fine

Yes, you can get in trouble for this. Not having dogs isn't going to be much help to you. It will just go to show that you are intentionally causing a disturbance.

The neighbors are noisy (and fat), you don't like them. I suspect they know that. Even fat people can figure out a juvenile stunt like you are pulling. All you did was up the ante a bit. They will now do something to further irritate you. And you will retaliate. And then they will. So on and so on, until one of you does something really stupid and somebody gets hurt.

Surely, since you are thinner than they are, you can come up with something more adult and constructive than a recording of barking dogs.

HILARIOUS IDEA. You should go on record though first, registering a complaint against them. That way it's on record that you did have a problem with noise from them, not the other way around. LOVE YOUR IDEA. haha

Disturbing the peace. . . Violating noise ordinances. . . Both are illegal.

Why don't you report them to the cops when they are loud? If you do it enough, they may get the idea. Just tell the officers that you spoke to them already, and asked them to quiet down, and they haven't done so. You also have the right to peace, and if your neighbors are disturbing it, that is also illegal.

What you are doing is rather immature, and not really solving anything - you are actually adding to the problem for the other neighbors.
