I just called 911 by accident?

My T.V. wasn't working properly and I needed to call my dad. I called on his cellphone, he told me what to do, and the T.V. started working again. Then he told me to next time call him on his work number instead. I THOUGHT he said to call his work number NOW. So I called the work number, but no one was picking up, and then my sister told me that my dad said to NEXT time call him on his work phone,not NOW. So then I stopped trying to call him. Then Someone called. and it was an odd ring, they didn't displayed the number. So My grandma just picked up, but my grandma doesn't know english. So she just hug up. They called again and I just picked up. They told me not to hang up. It as a serious voice. Then They told me that they are the police and I called 911. I told then I did it by accident, when I was calling my dads phone number. SO the lady asked for my dads work number so I gave it to her. Then she told me to look at what number I was dialling next time. Then she hung up. I'm very scared

So the question is what will happen to my dad? Do you think 911 will call him? I'm so scared right now I don't want to call my dad

It's been 15 minutes since the call. The police never showed up yet. I think the lady thought I was small, and all she said was " next time before you call, be aware of what numbers you were dialing"

you'll be fine. The cops will most likely come to your house anyway, just to make sure nothing is wrong.

At the most a cop will show up at your door to make sure there isnt a problem at your house.

Same thing happened to me when I was 12. My mum's work number has a 911 in it, so I accidentally called the cops one day. Don't worry, it'll be fine. they came to my house to see if everything was okay then they left. They'll probably call your dad. it's not a big deal at all.

First of all, you didn't do anything wrong. Accidents do happen. Its the dispatchers responsibility to call back when they receive a 911 hang up just to make sure theirs not a real emergency. As far as calling your dad, i'm sure if the dispatcher does so, everything will be explained to him regarding the phone call. Nothing will happen to your dad. Don't worry too much!!!

oh, you have nothing to worry about. they won't arrest you for makeing an accidental phone call.
they will probably just call your dad and inform them that 911 was dialed from your number. that's all.
it was a complete accident and you won't get in any sort of trouble.

No,i doubt they'll call your dad. They probably wanted your dads number to see the realtion of 911 and his number. I wouldn't worry to much, just talk to your dadwhen he gets home and explain the situation, in case they did call his work.

Nothing happens. People dial 911 by mistake all the time. The international number for a certain country is 0911 so you can imagine if you live close to the southern border of the USA it happens a lot. I'm surprised they didnt send an officer out to verify it wasnt intentional and you werent speaking under duress.

They may just call your dad to let him know what happened. You will not be in trouble unless your father does not understand that it was a accident

i think they just wanted to make sure that you were ok by calling him. for example if you had been kidnapped and the kidnapper hung up the phone and then told you to tell the cops you did it by accident. you see they were just making sure you were ok. probably they will give you the same speech they gave you about being careful not to call an emergency number when its not an emergency. next time if you call 911 by mistake. call back and let them know it was a mistake this way they don't waist valuable time making sure your ok when they could be helping someone who can really use the help. you dad might talk to you about it, but mistakes happen. next time just tell 911 you called by mistake before they have to call you. sometimes they will even show up on your door step if they do not get a response by phone and that might have worse consequences.

i doubt they will call your dad.. they prob were just makng sure teh number was similar to 911 to see if it was a prank... or to see if you were really in an emergency but couldnt tell the person..

don't be scared...if you told them you called by accident they won't dispatch anyone to your house...and if they do call you dad just tell him what you told them...it was a simple mistake, and happens a lot more that you might think...most of the operators that work in the 911 dispatch are absolutely stupid anyway and are on constant power trips they are not police officers they just think they are...most are overweight loser women that can't get work elsewhere.

Well i just accidentally called them they came to my house and said for your name and phone number so you don't do it again
