I just got a stop sign ticket in California...Please HELP?

I just got a ticket for stop sign.
I have a permit and I was practicing driving with my friend. (she is 18 and has a licenses.) it is not my car
i will get a mail within 3 weeks.
the ticket i got today has
wrong info : wrong insurance company, and the street name(place)
i dont want let my parents know it
and i am 18
should i go to traffic school?
if i go to traffic school, will i have to pay the fine?
how much is the ticket

if it says Registered owner or lessee and it was marked SAME AS DRIVER..
will it be another wrong info?
cuz the car was not mine

In California......

If you were cited only for VC22450 (failure to stop), the total fine would be $201. That might be adjusted up/down, based on the county you received it in and the willingness of the judge in flexibility.

Just because some of the information on the cite was incorrect does NOT mean it will be dismissed. The issue is - were you driving that day/that time and place and did you violate that section of the vehicle code.

If you go to traffic school, you would have to pay an additional fee (~$45 or so, depending on which county you're in) as well as the cost of traffic school. You would still pay the fine. Once you complete traffic school, though, the violation won't appear on your insurance.

It sounds like you weren't insured for driving that car - so you could have been cited for that as well.

Let your parents know - you need to keep that trust.

Yes, go to traffic school because it will teach you how to be a safer driver. I don't think traffic school impacts the fine. Just pay the fine and take this as an important learning experience.

As for the insurance thing, I think that's the cars owners problem, not yours. I was driving a friends car a few years ago and was given a ticket for some insurance thing. I had to go to court but, I was out pretty quickly. The judge dismissed it "in the interest of justice" because the police officer marked on the ticket that it wasn't my car.

Also, tell your parents. Do not hide this from them. If I'm right about the insurance thing you're seeing, then that's not your fault or responsibility and all you are responsible for is the stop sign. Sooner or later everyone runs a stop sign while learning to drive and I bet your parents will be understanding of that. There's no reason for you to keep it from them.

You should go to the DMV and get something called an abstract and bring this to court with you. It will save you another court trip if the ticket is marked incorrectly or if its marked as you being the owner of the car.

if the ticket is written incorrectly then the judge will throw it out...or you can protest it....you will most likley not have to go to school or pay the fine...but i would be honest and tell your parents that the ticket is not correct ...unless you think you can get it dismissed
