Check your state laws. pay the fine, learn from it. |

Follow the directions on the ticket.
You may get something in the mail.
You can call the county police in the morning and they can give you more information. |

cool d

call the phone number on the ticket during business hours
ask the price, tell her the citation number, and

You pay your ticket. Or go to court and try and get it reduced then pay it. It's up to you, but you will still have to pay something for not paying attention |

I thought the limit was 70 is hardly an excuse for going 81.
You will be charged a substantial fine and get points on your drivers license. |

If your state offers Traffic School, take it; it gets the point(s) off of your license and you actually do learn better driving skills.
Meantime: slow down! I did the math and discovered that by just driving the posted speed limit (always in the far right lane) and using cruise control on the highway, I increased my gas mileage by 18%. When you factor in safety and lower stress...priceless. And I get where I'm going in the same amount of time. |

Pay for the ticket. Be more careful and aware of the speed signs.
Everyone makes mistakes. Learn from it. |

I live in Tennessee. That is a reckless driving charge. There will be a mandatory court appearance. They may order you to take driving school for a saturday. The fine, if it was a THP that pulled you over, will be huge. Best bet is to show up for court. If the officer who wrote your ticket does not show up you can ask for it to be dismissed. Sometimes they do not show up. |

if you can, go to court. most states have a NO CONTENDERE or NO CONTEST plea. if you have a good record, the judge WILL offer it to you. NO points and a REDUCED fee. your insurance company will never even find out you ever got pulled over. |

You could just pay the ticket, and pay attention to where you are driving and what the speed limit is. |

Follow the Instructions on the back of the Citation, (Speeding Ticket).
Frankly I am surprised that the State Trooper did not take you back to the State Barracks or nearest lockup, since you exceeded the posted speed limit by 26 MPH. In most states if you exceed the speed limit by MORE than 25 MPH it's an automatic trip to the Pokie to be arraigned & bond out. Sounds like you got lucky my friend.
At this point, - since I am not familiar with the traffic laws of Tenn, I am just guessing, but - I think you have two options left to resolve the ticket:
(1). A lot of speeding ticket Citations are printed on a mailing envelope form, which you can use to pay the fine and mail in your penalty to the State, in lieu of making a Court appearance. If the Amount of the Fine is not listed on the ticket, call the Tenn. State Police Barracks, and ask them where you can find out how much the fine is, so you can put a check for the fine in your ticket envelope, and mail the fine into the state.
(2). You may choose to go to court, to "Fight the ticket". Again, follow the directions given on the back of the printed Citation, get your court date & time. Show up on time, make your arguement, or plead guilty, and See what the Judge says. |

My Dad who is your age got busted about 6 months ago cause he was using his cell phone (a law passed about a year ago about no handheld phones while driving but headphones are fine) he was calling my mom on his way home from work to find out what she wanted to do for dinner. His headphones had broken that very morning. I think he's had one or two speeding tickets before that. He paid it cause he knew he deserved it and it goes down as one of those 'silly moments' in family history. Everyone makes mistakes but there's always consequences when you're caught (and even some when your not caught) pay it and move on with life. By the way, ignorance of laws/speed limits is no excuse, any driving instructor will tell you that you fully deserved that ticket whether you thought what the speeding limit was or not. |

I do not know the penalties in TN. Here in New Jersey we get "points" on our license for infractions such as speeding. Because a certain number of points add up to a suspension of license, a lot of people talk to the prosecutor and just ask for a fine in order to avoid points. This is NJ's way of ripping off motorists and putting a few bucks in their pockets.
Don't bother to get a lawyer. You can pay the ticket, or go into court and ask the prosecutor and judge to lower the fine given your good record. |

Your best bet is to check with the TN courts and see if they have a plea that is called either nolle contendre or no contest. In GA, if you used that plea, no points would be sent in on your license thus saving you the huge increase on your insurance and the possibility of your license getting suspended if you had other infractions on it (can only be used once every five years). If TN does have that plea, take a ride (at a safer speed) back up there for court day. Make sure you have the payment amount with you too.

I gotta say congrats on the only ticket for as long as you have been driving. but on the other hand, too many people speed these days and it really pisses me off. it causes more accidents and the damn gas prices to rise. So if i were you I would do the speed limit and not worry about where you need to be. if your in that big of a hurry, leave earlier!!! People from GA drive crazy anyway. It aint NASCAR out there, obey the speed, pay attention |

Pay the ticket. You'll probably get some points on your license, but since you very, very rarely speed, that shouldn't be a big deal.
Then, move on with life and watch more closely for speed limit signs in the future. :-) |

Pay the fine and take the consequences...keep your speed down from now on... |

It's your first moving violation and you've been driving good all these years. Take it to court if it's not too much trouble fighting it. You almost always get a better deal by fighting in court. |

Did they take your license as "bond"? If so, then you will have to pay the ticket to get your license back. If they didn't take your license, then you will just pay the ticket.
If you want this off of your driving record, then you will have to ask the county where you got the ticket about driving school, court supervision, and so forth.
As for your insurance, your premiums shouldn't go up. Because you are of a certain age and this is your first ticket, it shouldn't affect your insurance at all, unless you had multiple tickets.

Couldn't you tell that you may have been going faster that the other drivers?
...and even if the speed was 70 wouldn't 81 be speeding?
If you ask me I feel like you should learn from your mistakes. Nobody's perfect. It shouldn't be that big of a deal. Especially because you are 53 and this is your 1st ticket... well that all depends on how old you were when you got your license. I would be proud of myself if i was 53 and only got 1 speeding ticket so far. |

You pay the ticket, you'll get points on your license and your insurance will go up. Welcome to the club. Over time the points will go away and you'll probably have to change your insurance to get the premium to go down.
It's really not a big deal - just a monetary pain in the butt. |
