Sounds like you have a case of kleptomania. I think the only way you can get the help you need is to see a therapist. They should keep all of your sessions confidental so you're employer doesn't need to know.

Sounds like your screaming for help to me. You are taking risks that could put you behind bars. That should be enough to stop you, but it isn't - so - counseling would be a good thing for you to help you figure out "why" you are doing this.

well it seems we cant even trust the law these days (even though you don't work for the law) you should stop man. you will feel much better if you save your money for something you want. im 13 and i would'nt dream of stealing. your an adult and you work for the police!! you should be ashamed of yourself. Tip off (anonymously) the local police in your area that a shoplifting gang is targeting shops in the neighbourhood. If you shoplift again after this you need you head examined. On second thoughts perhaps you should go and see a shrink.

If you want to stop, you will stop. Some postees here have listed loads of good reasons for stopping - like what will happen to you if a special goes into prison and the inmates find out.

Get your head together and keep your life on track - otherwise you will lose the things that you like and enjoy - one of those being a special, and you will never be able to regain them.

And it is true - when you have been a victim of burglary or theft yourself (and I know you will probably say stealing from shops doesn't hurt anyone - but it does our pockets!) you will then realise just how disturbing it is.

allow someone to steal from yourself - that way you might understand the pain and sufferring endured by shopkeepers - the suspicion it creates amongst their staff and the general reduction of their morale.

Do you not get paid enough ? or is it a case of the thrill etc.
maybe you feel guilty for like, arresting people who do this kind of thing, so you put yourself in their place...like you are on their side....maybe you feel you are on the wrong side of the law.
