He pulled me over, searched my car, questioned me, at one point he did not believe me when I said I had my lisence. I was scared, so I persisted and insisted I had my lisence. He did not find me in his data base. Finally, he wrote me up for driving with out a lisence. What is going to happen? I paid the ticket and have not heard anything since.

Nothing. You paid your fine. That's it. Don't drive without one again. You're lucky he didn't haul you to jail and impound your car. |

First of all in all my years as an LEO, I have never heard of just paying a fine for an unlicensed driver. You always have to appear in court. It is court appearance required. How old are you? Also never lie to a police officer. He has many resources and will usually find out the truth in the end. Plus if he finds probable cause, he can write you anyway and deal with it when it goes to court. What you need to do is call the court and see if you have a court date. I'm willing to bet you do. Driving without a license is a serious offense. You just can't pay a fine and it goes away. They will run your driving history and see why you were suspended and this will come into play how much your fine will be, and how long until you receive your license back. If you never had a license, this may delay when you can get one.

Chances are, if this is your first offense, not much will happen. You're insurance rates may increase and your next ticket may be a larger sum because of the previous one. Many people panic when a police officer pulls them over, so the officer probably new why you lied. If you payed the ticked and no other penalties where given, then you should be fine overall. |

If you paid the ticket, you are probably "safe", but you need to get your license so it does not happen again.
If it does, you will be in a lot more trouble as a repeat offender for the same problem. |

You shouldn't have lied. A friend of mine got caught without a license and has to go to court today. He will probably just get charged but I am awaiting the results. You seriously shouldn't have lied. It wouldn't have been that bad if you just said you didn't have it. The point im trying to make is, DO NOT lie to cops. That's the worst thing you could do, especially about your license.
