No, he can't sue you. But there are about a million things he -can- do that will make you beg him to please accept the five grand plus interest with your sincerest apologies. Things generally start like most collection agencies, a polite phone inquiry, then a not-so-polite inquiry, then a discussion of how to 'work it out'. If he starts to think you aren't taking him seriously, maybe he politely 'reminds' you of your obligation by throwing a brick at your car, or arranging for someone to come to your workplace and loudly discuss your gambling problems with you in front of your co-workers, and obviously your family will be called and notified of your delinquency by those same people. From there, if you still don't pay, he can start to 'suggest' that you pay him by having someone randomly fire a shotgun into your living room window in the middle of the night. Or he can cut your brake cables for you. Or he can have someone 'accidentally' hit you with a half-ton truck in your work's parking lot. Let's just say that he wouldn't be in business if he didn't know how to 'persuade' his gamblers to cough up what they owe. And there are myriad means of persuasion available to him. Do yourself a favor. Pay the man.

I would suggest paying this person pronto. Then I would suggest distancing myself from gambling. These types of people do not take kindly to people that does not pay their gambling debts.Your family and freinds plus yourself are at a high risk of being hurt. Consider the worst imaginable things that one human can do to another then consider paying your gambling debt.
