They only care about the past 5-10 years and drug/alcohol use in the last three years. You have to be clean within the last few years and no felonies. I have a small misdemeanor from a DUI a long time ago, but they do not care about that. I got another based on a situation that caused me to drive, it's not a felony but it's not holding me back from getting my career with the FBI. I am going for the FBI too!!! Just don't lie about anything because it will make you look like you cannot do your job honestly. That is what they want, honesty because crimes are being put in your hands for best judgment, that is the purpose. So if I am being accepted for my pour decisions on the past that were worse, then I think you will be okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

pretty sure that they only care about the past 5-10 years. although if you want to make an impression, that story sure will make them laugh. |

No it wont stop you from getting the job. But I am proud of you for not stealing anything else but that toy dinosaur in first grade. |

Just tell them yes you did, but it's on your Karma list. Go find your teacher and give her a new dinosaur. If she's dead, leave it on her grave or give it to her next of kin. |

Think about it: if you tell them the truth it's going to count in your favor, not against you. They're looking to weed out thieves and people with bad moral character. If all you've done is steal in 1st grade don't you think that's going to cause them to realize you're honest because you still have something like that on your conscious?
I stole a ruler from my 3rd grade teacher and wrote it down. I also bought her a new ruler and took it back to her when I grew up.
Tell the truth. You'll be fine. |

You were only six or seven years old, for crying out loud. Just forget about it, and it won't show up on any polygraph. |

If you're serious...
You will NOT be asked if you EVER stole anything, much less specifically in first grade.
However, given that YOU believe that this is a big deal, if they do happen to ask you an open question like this, you will answer "yes." You will then follow-up with "it was a toy dinosaur when I was 6." The interviewer will, most likely, change the question. |

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you will have no chance of getting into the FBI. Not so much because you stole a toy dinosaur when you were in first grade but because of your many other crimes against the state and humankind. I am sure you also remember the Jay-walking incident, or the spitting on the sidewalk affair, or the violent crime of stepping on a crack and breaking your mothers back. You are pretty much screwed. The FBI will never accept a recruit with such a varied and auspicious background. You may want to think about entering a monastary where you can clearly reflect upon your life of crime and work out a way to repay society for the way you have mistreated us. I will hope and pray for your recovery. |

Here is the deal, when you are being polygraphed, they are looking for you to be deceptive. I handle background investigations with my agency. I understand that everyone has done things in their past. If someone comes to me and tries to say they have never done anything in there life, I really look at that person harder because more than likely, they are hiding something. I wouldn't worry about it. Just tell them you took some stuff when you were young, it's not going to be an issue.
Be careful with Polygraphs though, they are very unreliable. Good luck. |

For starters, it's first grade. They won't hold that against you - if anything, it will give them a chuckle. They probably stole something as a kid too. I use to steal caramels from my teachers purse in the 1st grade and I work for an attorney now.....kids are kids!
Relax! |

during the lie test, say, "yes, a toy dinosaur when i was six."
You will pass the test in more than one way.

It shouldn't affect you from getting the job you want. |

If you are this freaked out about it now then you will not pass the test if you say no.
If you say "yes" they will probably ask you what you stole and when. When you tell them it was a toy dinosaur in 1st grade they will probably laugh and thank you for your honesty.
Relax. |

Just state that "yes, i have stole..." and name the item and when. It was first grade and they will look over it since it was so long ago. |

I think they interview you first and ask you if there is anything you need to come clean about. THat is when you would tell them about your incident in 1st grade. They would then adjust the test accordingly. |
