The best course of action would be to report the matter to the police and apply for a protection order (AVO). Fighting back is something you should only do when all other options (including just walking away and ignoring it) have been exhausted.

Kickboxing is defined as a special skill, and if this bully is NOT at the same level of self defence training himself, then you would find it difficult to use your skill to LEGALLY defend yourself. The force used to defend yourself must be "reasonable" (or only just enough to stop the assault from continuing right at that moment).

The best evidence you can have is a completed police report.

Self defense varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Your best bet is to file a complaint with the local police. Judging by what you have written here, it would appear that this guys actions are sufficient to warrant assault charges.

Personally, I would think you would be within the law to smack the guy back, but you have to be careful about the level of force you use. Typically, you can only use an equal amount of force.

In other words, a guy punches you, you can punch them back. But you couldn't shoot them.

So, if this guy is slapping your arm, it probably would not be justified, on your part, to break the guys arm.

YES- if no-one will help and you can prove you have complained I would put your talent to work. Bullies are cowards basically. I had one after me at school until I knocked him over the serving line and he never bothered me again.
My nephew had three bullies on him - he complained to the teacher and the high school principal with no help. His father told him to take care of business. He put all three on the ground ( brown belt) and was suspended from school. He was immediately reinstated when my bro in law raised all kind of hell.

I'd be really careful with this one if I were you. Try reporting it again and take it to someone more senior if they aren't taking you seriously.

A friend of mine was attacked after a night out once, he was jumped in town (trained in kickboxing) and hit back. Everyone involved was arrested yet because of his kickboxing training he was classed as a deadly weapon and they were trying to take his license away and send him to jail for a long time!

Luckily he challenged this and they had the whole attack on CCTV and was quite clear he defended himself and did not use excessive force.

Just be careful! Do you really want to throw everything away for a bully? Best of luck! =)
