Your signature is merely a promise to appear.

Whether or not you sign the ticket, you have to appear.

The reason for the signature is so that they do not have to arrest you and take you to jail.

There are two problems with your plan... first of all the court will assume you got it, so there will be a warrant for your arrest and/or a suspension of your drivers license. Either of these will create bigger problems.

Secondly, there is a good chance the officer will remember you. If that happens, once again, you will have bigger problems.

Use to be if you did not sign the ticket you went to jail.
Since that was deemed in some states as an admission of guilty to some parties, they stopped making people sign the tickets. (NO)
Can you get out of the ticket. (NO) They have all the information on the ticket as to time, date, license number?
Could you not show up for court and then say you never received a ticket. Many patrol cars have a camera on board, a back up tape events for possible court dates, a daily log of all arrests, stops etc, plus the dispatchers log of you, when stopped, where you were stopped at, time of incident, ticket written, so as to match the officers log and ticket. (NO)

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you donâ€™t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!

The citations I issue are entered into my computer (MDT) and printed out in my cruiser. I just hand you a copy. I do not have you sign anything.

edit...the cop cannot make you sign the ticket. if we could get away with speeding, etc just by not signing tickets, don't you think no one would sign? get real.

can you not show up to court and claim that you never received it? only if you want a warrant issued. just be lucky that the officer didn't arrest you on the spot, and pay the fine or take def driving or deferred adjudication, if possible. don't try to find a loophole.

in reference to what the person above me said, i guess that's why in my area, they have on the back that your signature is not an admission of guilt.
