I received a speeding ticket that I want to contest, however there is no record for the date on my ticket?

Does this mean, the officer never filed the ticket, or do I still need to appear? I received the ticket Feb. 9, 2009.
Additional Details
i have called the courthouse and also went on the website that is on the ticket,
the operator could not find me in the system nor was I able to locate any ticket info on website it states no records found for citation number.

Hmmm... That is interesting. You didn't say were this occurred, in some jurisdictions it used to be possible to pay the ticket to the officer before leaving the traffic stop. SC was one state that allowed it at one time. Sometimes officers would have duplicate books and issue tickets to drivers that were not likely to show up in court ie out of state drivers. The driver would pay the officer the fine and then wait for the violation to show up on their record and insurance. If it didn't show up it usually meant the officer had pocketed the money and didn't turn it the ticket. Since the driver's insurance and record were never affected most never complained.
You need to document that you have made every effort to meet your obligations on this. Once you've done this I wouldn't push it. You may have gotten lucky.
