I recenly had an accident could i?

claim off the council for the road surface being slippery but with no signs?

because the day i had my accident of which i broke my thigh they was measuring up to put anti skid on the road and they have now done it but at the time there was no signs up to say it was a slippery road.

i know it was being measured up as both me and my dad work on the council and ironically im one of the sign makers for my towns borough.

but would i be able to claim off it?

ok maybe i should have put thefull accident down i turned onto a dual carrigeway in my town the sun was in my eyes and reflecting off the road which was wet so i couldnt see in front of me and i was in second lane of dual carrigeway so couldnt stop i was doing 30 as i got onto dual carrigeway suddenly saw a 4x4 in front of me and broke but as im on a 125cc motobike i slid off and slid into the back of the 4x4 so thats how i broke my thigh and no in that type of accident u dont need to be goin fast as my leg was trapped between the 4x4 and my bike.

No you can't.
The accident was entirely your own fault.
You were not driving/riding to the conditions it is as simple as that.
If you were dazzled on a wet slippery road then why were you doing 30mph. that was obviously to fast for the conditions.

Don't try and blame others for your lack of skill/attention or whatever.

If the sun was in your eyes and you couldn't see doesn't that tell you something. You should have stopped straight away, not carried on. What would you have said if it had been a pedestrian you collided with?

I dare say that the collision was probably caused more from your inexperience than the road not having an anti-skid surface.But hell, why not, blame the road!!!!!

Accept it was your fault and learn from it.

I agree with bear on this one. Why did you keep driving if you couldn't see a bloody great 4x4?

As has already been pointed out, why on Earth did you continue driving if you weren't able to see? You, as driver, are expected to exercise a modicum of common sense, which would not include continuing in the second lane of a dual carriageway while being unable to see, but would include having the sense to know that wet road surfaces can be slippery. There's a wonderful thing called the Highway Code, try reading it sometime.

I suspect you are lucky that the police took pity on you because of your injury and didn't report you with a view to prosecution for careless driving.

Get real, if the accident broke your thigh, you had to be going really fast and its probably your own fault. Own up.

You have to have proof of the fact there were no signs.

If you have no proof, your out of luck.

Michael it comes down to evidence if you can prove that there was no sign through pictures taken at the scene of the accident then you can make a claim.

If not its your word against the councils iam afraid.
