Hi Stand unfortunately sometimes these things happen when they are chasing thugs. They will now have to follow new guidelines so hopefully these tragedies will stop. Having said that I had a lift home from a CID Officer a week ago, no I wasn't arrested we had attended a meeting together and his driving was impeccable prior to CID he had been in the blue flashing light side of things, so I don't think you can tar them all with the same brush. Don't get thrown off again. Bear, his figures are nearly right, the IPCC quoted 220 deaths last year involving Police chases. |

I'm not sure you know 'FOT A FACT' these things happen outside of emergency call times. Are you suggesting that the police stop rushing to crime scenes/accidents etc. on the off chance they'll be involved in an accident with someone innocent.
No one will ever be able to change that - you can't do anything - and if you do a whole new load of people will start robbing banks: 'it's fine we've got ages to smash into the vault and shoot some people, the police won't be here for ages'. |

Oh do shut up you baffoon!!! You know lots of things for A FACT (mostly fictional in your tiny mind).
You asked this very same question one week ago....... before you had all your questions and answers REMOVED (for the good of Yahoo!!).
Your statistics are inaccurate. Please back them up with some hard facts (which I doubt you can!!)
Most of these deaths were attributed to downright dangerous and stupid driving by the idiots/ criminals failing to stop for the police.
The police cannot stop having a 'pursuit policy'. This was tried by one particular force, which led to every criminal realising that they just did not have to stop. Hence the police were not allowed to pursue them, hence the criminals escaped. Also hence the force reinstating the pursuit policy.
In 2005/06 there were 42 police-related road traffic incidents that resulted in the deaths of 48 individuals. Thirty-two of the individuals died during or shortly after a police pursuit and seven people died when a vehicle seemingly made off at speed from a patrolling vehicle or failed to stop when asked to do so by officers.
Pursuits should be managed by the Force Incident Manager. He or she will quickly ascertain the road conditions, vehicle and pedestrian activity and the level of skill of the pursuing officers. They will allow the pursuit to either continue or halt it if it is deemed too dangerous. This is constantly been assessed whilst other resources are despatched. Notably the helicopter will allow officers to back right off.
The pursuing officers themselves have the greatest responsibility to recognise when it is too dangerous to continue. |

Lets see... Account for 3 days... and all of your questions are bashing police. Are you a troll or do you just enjoy the label?
If you would like to join in the intelligent adult conversation. Ask intelligent questions with links to facts to back up your argument and I / we would be glad to assist you.

The drunk drivers all over America are actually killing more per DAY than police involved wrecks in a year.
So go get on soap box about that atrocity and let them do their jobs (you know, the thing you have no idea what they have to do to accomplish?) |

I bet you didn't know that there have been over 50 fatalities state wide of law enforcement officers killed by NOT so innocent bystanders.
And I ask you, when do we do something? |

The liability involved when driving an emergency vehicle to an emergency is atronomical. No police officer in their right mind would drive as you stated when there was no emergency. A police officer would face criminal charges and jail, termination and civil liability if they injured someone while driving that way.
If you are so interested in police officers driving to emergencies, take the test. |

What is the source of your 'FACT' ?
And does your question relate only to the Police in Manchester? |

Wow! Talk about a bunny hugger. Let me ask you, when do we try to protect our police officers. It is always unfortunate when an innocent victim dies. These poor men an women are sticking their necks out on the line, and some of them die a horrible death to protect us. GET YOUR PRIORITIES IN ORDER, YOU GOOF! And have some respect for them. |

If people didn't break the law, then take off at speed, they wouldn't have to speed after them. Think you have your facts wrong, because if you knew for sure that this was now the case, surely it's your civic duty to do something about it? |

the day that the car thieves they are chasing get 5 years hard labour 1st offence. and their driving licence removed for 5 years from the day the are released. with that sentence doubled with no parole on the second offence.........THAT!! my friend is when you'll see all this stuff end. when will the likes of you get it through your head that the low life scum thieves are the enemy. not the police. i suppose it wouldn't occur to you that it may be the fault of the criminal and the stupid simpering do gooders that look after the criminal interest. |

if police stuck to the speed limit the crims would have time to fill up their cars during a chase.and no-one would be caught. |

I think you'll find that if you input all the miles that Police drivers do each year into your fantastic and absolutely tabaloid worthy equation you'll find the collision rate of police vehicles is less than that of an average driver. Since you have only included the Police into your rant there is clearly some animosity clouding your judgement. Police cars aren't the only Blue light users that get involved in collisions it was only yesterday that I attended an ambulance almost killing a man and bearing in mind that there are more Police vehicles on the road than ambulances and fire engines put together than its obvious that the stats are going to be higher.
Police drivers spend weeks developing their driving skills its just unfortunate that other drivers don't. You'd be amazed the amount of drivers that don't even see or hear the cops coming even in the dark with flashing headlights.
I agree there is an exception to the rule and sometimes officers do go too fast we're all human and all have adrenaline, its no excuse and the same rules apply to them if they have an accident where they get punished the same (and often harder than others) but at least they're doing for a cause (to protect life and property...which might be yours one day) so give them slack its very rare for it to be takeaway time lets face it would you risk the sack for a meal? |

Doesn't surprise me in the least, here in the U.K. the police are becoming notorious for shooting innocent people. What a shower of clowns these "law enforcement" orifices are! |

There are genuine accidents, but i have to say, the speed they travel at can be scary. One road in point is Ickenham Road in West Ruislip, it is 30 mph, but the police go down this road at incredible speeds, with engines literally screaming. The worst bit is there are school kids lots of traffic etc along this road.
Now i know they need to get to emergencies asap, and if i was in trouble i want them there as soon as, but not at the risk of killing or maiming someone.
I am in favor of a speed limit for emergency services. |

Its funny you should ask that. This morning, my husband, me and our 2 young daughters were driving into town when a police car came out of nowhere and cut us up. My husband had to swerve and nearly hit a lampost. I banged my head on the side window, and only then did the driver put his lights and siren on. We watched as he sped off and turned right into a one way road, making the oncoming traffic do emergency stops and causing the drivers behind to swerve onto the pavement. One almost hit a lady with a buggy. We were really shaken up by this as he did'nt seem to be chasing anyone, but was heading for Tesco's!!! |
