I think I started a firestorm, but what to do now?

I live near a big baseball stadium. On game days, traffic and parking is a nightmare by my house. I was here long before the stadium. I am now 77 yrs old. I have asked people to at least not block my driveway during games, just in case I need to leave on an emergency. They do it anyway. So last week I put up cones. They moved them, and blocked my driveway. So I went out there and took my keys and carved DUMBA$$ in big letters on their hood. They reported it to the cops, I lied and said I didn't see a thing. Now it's all in the newspapers, and they are blaming the other team like it was rivalry or something! What should I do? All I've done so far is sit back and laugh and think "Well, I asked you to stop blocking my driveway." But, should I go admit it?

You're 77 yrs. old. You don't need any trouble. Next time your driveway gets blocked, call the police and have the car towed and ticketed. |

I'm not an advocate of 'street justice'.
However, in this case I'd say let the sleeping dog lie. Learn from this - sometimes when you do the wrong thing there are unintended consequences - and keep in mind what might have happened to you if you'd been caught. Do you really want to be in the position of having to pay some loser who blocked your driveway hundreds - or thousands - of dollars to repaint their hood, in addition to whatever criminal penalty you might receive?
Next time just call the police the instant someone parks blocking your driveway. Don't waste your time with cones and don't bother warning someone who is obviously that intentionally ignorant of the law. Don't block the driveway with your own car - in many locations it is illegal to block ANY driveway with ANY car, even your own.
And keep your keys in your pocket. |

No chance man ....next time smash the cars window with a rock ....possibly put a sign saying do not park....if it keeps happening keep teaching those people a lesson...eventually people will learn not to park there. |

Park your car there instead. Don't admit it. Put a sign in your driveway that says 500 dollar towing fee or something creative. |
