I turned my CHEATING ex-boyfriend into the police?
Find answers to your legal question.

I turned my CHEATING ex-boyfriend into the police?

Because I knew he had outstanding warrants. He'll be off the street for a while now. lol

Does that make me a bad person!? I mean come on! He's the one who broke the law, right?

I turned my own brother in! so if you are a bad person then I guess I am as well. My brother is a habitual offender, he is a thief and a scam artist, he not only scams his own family, but others as well. He has done enough damage to me and my family and I do not feel that other people should suffer from his choice in a life of crime!! I have no guilt in turning him in and I would do it again in a heart beat!!

Well, what is really sad is you will be back together next week anyways. Sad.

Ever hear the phrase "what goes around comes around?"

Girl, you are so far in Karma receivorship that you instruct your friends not to stand near you until a jet engine lands on your head at a bus stop. That was a HORRIBLE egotistical self absorbed childish thing to do. If you wanted to turn him in on ethical beliefs, that would be one thing and perfectly reasonable. But turning him in because of your fragile bruised and immature ego is just wrong.

it does not make you a bad person, it just makes you bitter

Not bad, just bitter and vindicative. Make of that what you will.

BTW, just the fact that you have to question yourself about it means that you feel what you did was wrong so....

DOOM
It doesn't make you a bad person, but would you turn someone in with whom you were on good terms?

As long as you don't complain in a month or two when they let him out early (overcrowding you know) and he shows up on your doorstep really PISSED at you. No matter what anyone thinks about the morality of what you did. As far as your personal safety is concerned, it was really, REALLY, dumb.

Well, if he had to cheat on someone, he sure picked the right girl.

Rotten. Then again, if he really hurt someone, I suppose it's for the best. If not, shame on you, and resolve not to do it again. Not a nice secret to have to keep. Suggest you talk to a priest or a trusted older person. Like having a piece of Plutonium in your pocket, this could eat you up.

I think you already know the answer to your question. He may have broken the law, but you broke the bond of trust between the two of you when you involved the police. I assume that during your relationship you were fully aware that he had warrants out for his arrest. Were you always offended by his criminal behavior? Or did you suddenly develop a social conscience the minute he dumped you?
Good luck with karma. You're gonna need it.

phillip
if u did this because it was a case of "tough love" then that makes it right. if u did it to piss him off and be ignorant then its wrong

you'll feel bad about it tomorrow.
Why are you dating men with criminal records? You can do better.

I turned my uncle in after he made me mad enough. Just remember that you can't, and shouldn't go back to any kind of relationship with feller.

battlefighters2
yeah, turn in them criminals in so we can just support the overcrowding of prisons and help revenge............

agieagieagie22
Nah. I'm glad you did. But if you turned him in for cheating, I was gonna say I don't think that's illegal in most states.

:-D

This does NOT make you a bad person, it makes you a self-respecting, law-abiding citizen.

The only thing that might make you a bad person is NOT turning him in for the past year before you knew he was cheating.

brittanyiscool90
No you're a really good person for doing that. Just make sure and get a restraining order on him!!!

psalmsmuse
It's not for me to say whether or not that makes you a bad person...just thought I'd say, one citizen to another...

THANKS:-)

Its Just Fine
No you are bot a bad person! I'm not saying he is either. However karma goes in both directions at all times. If he has a police record and is always in trouble then this is karma coming bite him in his you know what. However, knowing he was this type of person from the start should have been a clue he was not going to do right by you. With that said.. set standards for yourself. You should have a list of things you will not accept from a man. Running from the police should be one of them. You did the right thing no matter the reason. He did it to himself by running from from the law and then bragging to people about it. he is an idiot.

Does it matter
I'm in the same situation. I left my ex after finding out he was a criminal (white collar crimes). Unfortunately, we had 2 children together. he hasnt paid any kind of child support or seen kids in 3 years. I just found out his location and he has more warrants for arrest. He has a new woman and takes care of het kid, while my kids have to go without. I am contiplating turning him in.
