More importantly than can you become a police officer is can you really be trusted to enforce the law if you habitually broke it? You will have to show any potential employers that you have moved on from that part of your life, and 6 months might not be long enough. |

It depends on the department. What have you done to improve your life since then? Have you gone to school? Obtained a job with high responsibility? It all factors in. I would talk to a recruiter in your area and get their impute. |

You better be completely honest with them about it. As long as you tell them everything you have nothing to worry about...but they will tell you when you are ready. Not us.
By the way, 6 months of not weed smoking isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.
Ok fine give me thumbs down but one of my best friends is gonna be a cop and he had the lie detector test and YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM EVERYTHING. If they find out you will not ever ever ever be accepted. That is just the truth. They want you to be honest. They know that not everyone is perfect. It would unreasonable to only hire people who have never tried drugs because most teenagers don't think.."hmm maybe i should't smoke this weed incase i wanna be a cop" |
