I have been told by 2 people that in order to become a police officer your Credit has to be good...i dont know how much of it is true...if there is any police out there online right now could you PLEASE let me know if this is true...because my credit if pretty screwed up right now..

I performed background investigations for approximately 300 police applicants.
Those applicants with bad credit were rejected most of the time.
Failure to pay debts indicates a lack of maturity and failure to take care of personal responsibilities.
I recall one series of investigations where 12 of the top 15 applicants were rejected exactly for that reason.

It depends on why.
If your bad credit is the result of irresponsible decisions on your part, it can and will effect your ability to get hired.
Do what you can to start fixing it now. |

that's actually quite true for some departments. I know someone that hires, and when they look into you're background and see a sloppy credit check, they are going to think you are going to be sloppy in other ways. Also, youre driving and parking does count, to whoever said it doesn't. |
