I was caught for petty theft 484pc the item stolen was less than $200 what are my options?

The item stolen was valued at under $200. I am a first time offender. Theft took place in California at a university bookstore. I am 21 years old. What do i do when i go to court? How much will court fees and/or diversion classes cost?

You are now an adult. You must feel a little nebbish for subjecting yourself to such childish behavior.

Petty theft California Penal Code 484 pc is a Misdemeanor crime. Worrying about how much it is going to cost should be the least of your worries. Had this been a Felony it would have resulted in limiting your ability to obtain a job of honor and respect one day in the future.

I would hope for your sake that there is a lesson learned here. Maybe it would be wise for you to think ahead if such a thought of taking the property of another were to enter your mind again.
