I was caught shoplifting with my friends in Macy's we are underage we all have 17 years.We stoled 294 dollars of merchandise. I will like to know the consequences? plz help me im really scared how will this affected me in my future. We all also have good grades and never gotten introuble with the police.

Perhaps the worst part will be having to fill out an application for the rest of your life and when it states..."Have you ever been convicted of a crime (other than a traffic ticket)?" you will need to answer yes. If you lie and say no...guess what. The employer will check your background and you find out you've lied and you will assure you do not get hired. Basically you may have just assured you will be flipping burgers or cleaning toilets the rest of your life. |

Why is it when you morons get caught stealing, you always come in here and write "I have good grades." What does that have to do with ANYTHING?
Surprisingly, all the answers to this particular question were right. You will have a record that will follow you around for the rest of your life. Although it's a cliched answer in this group that a lot of uniformed people use to answer everything, in this particular instance, it's apropos: get a lawyer. Because you're still under 18, you can get it sealed if you set it up right now with a lawyer. That's the only way to get it so it won't show up on your record later - but this has to be done before you turn 18. So get a lawyer asap.
Keep in mind, your record before you're 18 does not autmoatically get sealed like a lot of people guess in this section - it has to be set up that way by a lawyer with the court. |

Firstly, shoplifting has nothing to do with intelligence or poverty. Some people steal because they have a personality disorder or just want the thrill of it. If you have an otherwise clean record, they might just fine you or give you community services. They might put you on an unsupervised probation for a year. You didn't steal enough to make the crime a felony. It is only a misdemeanor. Remember, birds of a feather, flock together. If you continue to hang out with these friends, you may be hearing about making honor roll thru bars. |

3 years in Federal Prison. There is NO reason ever to shoplift anything. It is good you are scared, maybe in the future you won't do something that stupid again.
OK, Ok, you will probably be sent home with a fine and some community service. If you get good grades you should have been smart enough to know that shoplifting is really stupid and can screw up everything you have worked your whole young life to set in place. |
