I was given a Speeding Ticket, but it's wrong...?

I was given a Speeding a ticket for going 41 in a 25, however, i went back and it is a 35 mph zone, no school or construction. what do i do?

go to your court date, and tell the judge. just don't pay your ticket. you should have your court date on the bottom or back of your ticket, if you don't, then call the courthouse and ask for your date. legally, you are allowed to go 5 over the speed limit. they shouldn't get mad over 6 over the limit, but i know some people who have gotten pulled over for going 6 over. it's stupid. just go to court and tell them, they know which streets are set to certain limits.

Take a phtograph of the 35mph speed sign.
Conest the citiation in court and submit your photographs as courts evidence. A mistake like that on the ticket is grounds for dismissal as long as you can convince the judge that the 35 mph speed sign is in fact the actual speed limit in effect at the scene of the traffic infraction.

While others are correct that you were still speeding, they seem to be missing the point that 16 over is worse than 6 over. Got to court and make your case. You best bring photographs or other evidence to prove your point because the judge isn't going to take your word for it.

You might have a good chance. You have to convince the judje that there was other car that passed you and officer gave you the ticket accidentally. You were not sure how fast you were going but it was definately not above 40 and take pictures of that location to prove it in the court.

You can choose not to pay it and go to court instead. Explain to the judge the discrepency between the speed limit posted and the speed limit noted on the ticket.

It's possible that the judge will give you a break due to the cop having incorrect info. Just make sure you are correct about the speed before you go.

Go take a picture of the sign and surronding area and bring them to court with you! Should get thrown out!!

I would show up to court (on the date listed on the ticket) and argue it in court. It's more than likely that you will get it reduced or totally taken off. Make sure you have proof that the speed limit is 35 and not 25mph. I would call the courts and see what documentation you need to prove your case.

Good Luck!

Since the fine for speeding is based in part on the number of miles over the posted speed limit you were going, I would suggest fighting the ticker ONLY on the basis of the posted speed limit being stated incorrectly. Since that makes you only 6 mph over the judge may throw it out or may reduce the fine based on the actual posted limit relative to your speed. But I certainly wouldn't pay and additional 10 mph fine if you can possibly avoid it.

right back, pay the fine but it may be lower.

OOOh Yes Thats It Yes!!!!
In the ticket it saids that you can fight the ticket, take it to court most cases you when because most police officer dont show up.. read the ticket

You were still speeding, but take it up to court; the fine may be lower since it was only a +5mph infraction.

Get a court date and try to fight it. Good Luck and you should probably slow down!

Are you sure it is 35? Did you see a sign that said 35? Don't assume it is 35 just because there is no construction, or it is not a school zone.

Implied speed in a residential area here in Arizona is 25, unless otherwise posted, in other words, no sign means 25mph.

A lawyer did a little presentation for my high school once and he told us that if there is anything wrong on the ticket (color of car, address, etc.) that you can have the ticket dismissed.

You admit to travelling at 41 in a 35 zone - isn't that speeding anyway? If you really wanted to then you could contest it because the ticket is incorrect.

fair enough if yu were doin 36-37 but u were 6 over sorry
