That cop lacked common sense, compassion and discretion. I'm sure he's an ok cop...but not everybody who wants the job should have it. Get real, a 20 minute traffic stop? That alone deserves a reprimand. And no most cops arent like that, and the other officer that showed up proved that. There were probably more than a few harsh words throw around the station house that night.

Yes, he would have acted the same way. This is yet another case of a cop with something to prove. He is a cop for one reason and one reason alone. To make people do what he says because of the badge on his chest. Unfortunately this type of cop out numbers the good ones.

I am from Dallas, I really feel like the officer should be fired not just given a slap on the wrist and on paid leave. I feel like justice was not served. I could see if the people ran a light and was headed to do some hood rat stuff but they were trying to make it to see a dying loved one. Dismissing the ticket will not bring back his family member or do enough justice for the way they were treated.

Hey, we put our lives in other people's hands every time we leave the driveway. And even when other people scare you with the way they drive, don't you just use your common sense & thank your lucky stars? Officers like this should be fired. Because they're even scarier than all those numb skulls you see on the streets. Assuming that all citizens are criminals does little to uphold the spirit of the laws. Apparently, the badge made him a little paranoid. Most of us don't have a badge or side-arm to whip out whenever we're having a bad day.

What's to come? Time Police who will pull you over on reasonable suspicion of what you MIGHT do? If this or that were to happen? I've seen comments posted in other areas, and if they think the "What if [insert improbable occurrence], who would you be calling then?" actually holds water, they might want to think about lobbying for a Thought Police Department, too.

My response is, I wouldn't call them for help. Some of them insist on trying to "help" anyway, but the only help they provide is revenue from ticketing poor people & railroading those who rub them the wrong way. The ability to ruin a person's life is not something a human should be given free license & even praise for taking advantage of.

I think it's an awful situation (couldn't even watch the whole video online it was make me so upset). My husband is a cop and thinks this guy needs to lose his badge. He's the type of officer that gives cops a bad name! Not all cops are bad. Many of them are still out there here to "serve and protect" us. My husband is one, as are his co-workers. There are many who put their lives on the line for us, unlike this guy who let the badge (power) go to his head.

The fact that a nurse came out to intervene and tell the officer that they really did need him and somebody was dying.

it's unfortunate that not everyone has the intelligence to get real job skills, and instead just become fat overpaid tax collectors -er, police officers.
