Well said that man!!!!!
If I find a burglar in my house then I will be defending myself when I kick the crap out of him. I will use reasonable force until he stops attacking me!!
You are right the criminal justice system needs a massive overhaul. There is currently little or no deterrent. The rights of the offender are deemed more important than those of the victim.... something that should never happen. |

Yeah i agree, people won't learn and get what they deserve from these lenient laws, yobs and teenagers 'collect' asbos instead of learning from them. The one saying you can't defend yourself from a burglar is the most ridiculous one! |

Yeah you've got a point but I think the government is worried about over-flowing prisons. |

Thoroughly agree, well said.Bring back punishment in schools, smacks from Mum and Dad, and crack down on first offenders. Maybe then it wouldn't escalate into all these horrible crimes that are happening nowadays. Even in our little village it's a bit scary going out at night now, something that was unheard of before. |

I don't live in the UK. However, when I read about your laws and the lack of protection for a person, even in their own home, I do feel sorry for you. I think it is ridiculous, regardless of where you live, that a person cannot protect themselves, their family and their belongings when someone threatens their safety. There is no deterrent for a thief or thug. A minimal jail time, no fear of being shot...heck sounds like a good income plan for some. I know where I live (Wyoming, USA) they better pray they don't threaten my family. We will shoot! I hope that common sense eventually prevails for your country. |

i Agree with you . it won't change until more people do what i do. not just speak out! get out and vote! . fire an uncaring politician or two and they will soon start to listen to you once they see their cushy jobs fading away.

I'm sick of it too.
And its not just the light sentences but the fact that when they are released they are given council houses and retraining grants and all sorts of stuff that ordinary hard working people can't get.
Who said crime doesn't pay? |

Your dead right and I do not know anyone that would disagree with you. There in my opinion is an answer to all this twaddle and do-gooder rubbish and that is to make prison life severe. Get the low lifes up in the early hours of the morning and make them run 10 laps of the prison yard before they can qualify for breakfast. Withdraw all this television nonesense in the cell, these guys are there to feel the wrath of society, make life like that for them. All these faceless do gooders that stick their noses into the welfare of their pet prisoners should talk to the victims and relatives and ask them their opinion on how the convicts should be treated. Funny how you never see these do gooders spouting their hideous views on the tele. |

Why not move to an old Crofter's cottage on one of the Outer Hebrides islands off of Scotland?
You can pick them up from about £500.
No scum up there - penguins and dolphins, but no scum |

I agree with you entirely. Victims in this country have NO rights whatsoever. I couldn't care less that prisons are overflowing there must be somewhere to incarcerate these people. How about using the Houses of Parliament as a prison?. |

I imagine a lot of people watched 'Bad Lads Army' when it was on TV.
Now, if all those miscreants were drafted into that 'army' and made to stay the course, would we have so much crime in UK?
The respect given to those lads in the programme was obvious but the retribution for misbehaviour was brilliant. Yes, crude but brilliant.
I was just too young for National Service, so I cannot contribute from experience but those who did do their NS will no doubt agree, the NCO's and Officers were often at their wits end with some lads. Two years in the Army would knock the arrogance and overconfidence out of them. Tw weeks or a month is not enough.
Bring back National Service with the crudeness and control shown in Bad Lads Army. |

We have just got to accept that the generation that fought the second world war and rebuilt the peace afterwards was at the zenith of the human condition.
That cannot be improved upon. So there is only one way to go and that is downhill.
It is surprising that it has happened so quickly, though. |
