You could try wording that a bit differently, as in, "Officer, I'm transporting a bee hive, with thousands of bees in it. I have no problem with your opening the trunk, but you should do so safely, and that means that you don protective gear and use a smoke injector to contorl them." Assuming, of course, that that's the truth.

No it's not illegal not to tell them. Just commen curtousy you should tell them what is in the trunk before it's opened. What if they are allergic to stings, then you just opened a new can of worms.

Yes, it is called reckless endangerment; which is basically knowingly engaging in activity that is likely to create a risk of physical injury.

You would also be charged with felony stupidity. Of course the majority of your sentence would be served in the prison hospital where you would be convalescing from a world class beating. Make sure you tape the confrontation, it's always funny to see a smart a** tough guy beg for mercy.

They need a search warrant or probable cause to search your vehicle in the first place. If they do it anyway they deserve to be swarmed by bees.

It's not illegal,
1. They can't search it anyway without PC.
2. If they have grounds to search (ie it's in your girlfriend's name and she gives permission), then you should verbalize why you don't think they should - ie a hive of bees. I'm deathly allergic to bees. One sting stops my breathing. Even with a kit with a needle, a swarm would kill me in a matter of minutes.

If you don't like 'cops' that's one thing, but do you want to potentially be responsible for their deaths, and have the families be without a mother or father because you wanted to play a game with them?

Actually, they have every right to search you. The comment "you dont want to look in the truck" raises suspicion and being that you were pulled over in the first place gives them "Search Incidental To Lawful Arrest" and a summons is simple a summons in leiu of arrest so, yes they can search your trunk and yes you could be charged with reckless endangerment.

Just because you say you don't want to look in the trunk, the cops would still not have probable cause to open it. They would have to ask you if they could.

I suppose before they opened it they would ask you if there is anything in there that can hurt them, and if you said no you would probably get in trouble.
