Local police recruitment in most of the countries are by citizen of that country.You have to change your citizen ship to the country in which you want to become police officer.Otherwise get selected to INTERPOL or join UN peacekeeping force.

It depends on the country. It depends on the police officer. I know policemen in this country who had been policemen in other countries. It can happen.

A while back the media here in the UK ran a story about an American who resigned from a local police force because he said that going out on patrol without a gun had become too dangerous. My niece is a police officer here and goes out on "the beat" as we say here, armed only with a tear gas spray and baton. Anyway it is possible for an American to be employed as a police officer in the UK.

For most civil service organizations You have to become a citizen of the country first. I have known several english "bobbies" who have moved to the US and that was one of the requirements that they become citizens. A sheriff could probably hire whoever he wanted since he is usually not civil service. It is probably the same for other countries.
