If I was convicted of a felony ten years ago. . .?
Find answers to your legal question.

If I was convicted of a felony ten years ago. . .?

would it ever be possible to have my civil rights restored and be able to someday vote again?

I schyt my pants
...it would depend upon the level of the Felony.... you should be consulting with an Attorney to determine what course of action you need to take.

Getting answers here is like asking "willey coyote" how to catch the roadrunner...

Each state and country is different. In my state, restoration of civil rights requires a pardon from the governor. Fortunately, for people that have completed their sentence and stayed out of trouble, pardons are pretty common. Other states have procedures that allow a court to relieve someone of the consequences of a felony conviction.

uh get a lawyer..and it depends on what type of crime and were you live.

Yes, if you have served your full sentence, and that means that you have completed and been released from parole, then you can petition to have your civil rights restored.

Old Fart
You should ask some one in the police about that.

If you have been a model citizen since your conviction, there is a possibility that your record, as a felon, could be expunged. Your best course of action is to seek counseling with an attorney who is knowledgeable in this area, and proceed, through him, to petition the court for relief. Also, contacting a staffer in the your governor's office, in pursuit of a gubernatorial pardon, may be an option, as well...

You can seal your record 10 years after your probation ended.

Example: You got in trouble in 2000
You were on Probation until 2005
You CAN seal your record 2015

Once your record is sealed you can answer no when asked on a job application and other things I believe

If you served no time and completed all the requirements necessary during probation, go vote. You've paid your sentence you are eligible again, just read the voter registration card.

On your other problems of civil rights, wait a couple of years and no one will care about your felony ... even background checks don't go back that far.
