A criminal? There are countless stupid, and pointless laws in just about every state. Laws that people are unaware of if you break one of these laws does it mean you are a criminal and should be locked up? Additional Details Actually most states don't have a law against Breastfeeding. I was looking at a web site called "Dumb Laws In Ohio, Crazy Ohio Laws" and that was one of them. http://www.dumblaws.com/laws/united-states/ohio

Would you be kind enough to point us to a law that says it's illegal for a mother to breast feed her child in public?

Sure ... you're a criminal right up until you fight it and get the law repealed on the grounds of .. idiocy.
This is certainly how "Blue Laws" get removed - somebody violates it, gets arrested, says "oh ya godda be kiddin", the prosecutor says, no he's not kidding, the perpetrator goes to the state congress and says "they're kidding, right?" and eventually the state congress says "well ..." and changes the law.
Laws don't go away without something happening. |

Usually, laws like that stay on the books because of one stupid person who doesn't have the common sense and decency to cover themselves up if their baby is need of a feeding. Most women will just hold the baby under their shirt or go to a more private area, but there's always a nutjob who thinks they have every right to pull their breast out in mixed company then other people are put in uncomfortable positions.
I remember hearing about a law that's still on the books in either Chicago or New York City that makes it a misdemeanor to sneeze when you're near a street. It was originally intended to help stop horses from being startled and trampling people in their fright at the sudden noise. That one's not exactly needed anymore, eh?? |

If it is a law, then it is mostly likely out of date, or the site has old information.
Most states protect breastfeeding mothers, have provisions for them, and keep them exempt (meaning, "not guilty of") from indecent exposure charges.
The link below outlines the laws on breastfeeding. ^_^ Happy reading! |

I don't think there are any states with that law. But, if you break the law, I guess you are technically a criminal. Even if there was a law like that - I doubt the penalty would be jail time. Not every law has incarceration as a penalty. |

It would be a misdemeanor. And yes, it would be against the law so she would have to abide by it.
Unaware even can get you in trouble if it's an obvious law (like doing illegal drugs), other times not so much, but that would be YOUR responsibility to know the law of your area.
Your problem is that you don't take the "others first" mentality. If you thought about what was best for everybody as a whole then you'd see, but you only think about yourself so you don't see. And thinking about yourself includes closing your eyes to a different idea than your own (which I know you do since you're so against police officers).
I have no problem with breast feeding in public, but if it's against the law (which it isn't BTW) then they can't do it. Simple as that.
EDIT: Actually no, I can honestly say i haven't cut anybody off, and I live in a highly populated area (i'm the kind of driver that is defensive- a rare breed we are).
Police officer I know live an "others first" mentality, and that shows because they have done things for people that many wouldn't do for their own friends/family. People do live others first. It's also called selflessness or altruism in more extreme cases. |

Yes she has committed a crime if it is against the law in that area. Ignorance is not bliss. |

The law here is for the woman's safety. If the government thought a woman would be safe breastfeeding in public, they would allow it. But they do not. |
