i got pulled over in a rental car.. the officer did not give me a warning or a ticket, but he did take my license and ran the number on the car..when i return the car will that be in the system?
and is my name now in the police system?

There will most likely be a computerized record of that contact within the local files of that specific Police Department. If you were ever stopped by that same department again and they checked your driver's license in their local system, they would probably be able to tell they had stopped you before.
There will also be a record in your state's centralized computer system indicating that department such-and-such ran your license at that time.
Neither of these things constitute a true 'police record', and they are for the most part meaningless. You are not 'in the system' in the same way someone would be if they were actually arrested. |

You did not mention what you were pulled over for? You will definitely be on THAT Police Department's System, but it is nothing that is a permanent record that will affect your license. Hold yourself accountable for you driving actions and you won't have to ask these questions |

no, it is a warning, not a citation.

The holders of the vehicle tags (the rental company) and the driver's license (you) can go to the DMV and see which organizations have run their numbers and when. When you were pulled over, the officer called in your vehicle tag and your driver's license number. That instance then showed with the DMV.
Your rental car company won't bother checking that information upon your return of the vehicle. Even if you received a citation for a moving violation in the rental car, everything would be issued to the driver, not the vehicle's registered address.
As far as your name being in a police database, that depends on the police department. |

First of all, the officer has to have a reason to pull you over. It's called probable cause. You also have a right to know why you were stopped. I don't know the situation, but I'm sure he had reason too. He can legally run any ones license number. If he didn't write you a summons, you don't have anything to worry about. Your license was clean and the car was valid. You won't be in any system. |
