If somebody issued me a check and they wrote my nickname instead of my first name will the bank accept it?

The bank will accept it as long as your account number is on it, and you can identify yourself as the holder of the account. Your nickname will also have to include your last name. You could also register your nickname with the bank as a legal alias.

most banks should, i have gotten checks from family with my nickname and never had a problem. i just signed with the name that was on the check.

First endorse the check, sign the back, as it is written out to you. Then sign it with your legal name beneath it. I have NEVER had a problem with people using a nickname writing me a check. It is what the bank tells you to do.

If your cashing the check at YOUR bank you would have a better chance than if you tried to cash the check at the persons bank that wrote the check. Either way, sign the back of the check as it's made out to you and also sign your legal name below the nick name. Shouldn't have a problem.

I think that if it is your bank, they will accept it, but if there is later found to be a problem, they will charge your account for the amount. Also, if it is for a very large amount, I would expect the teller to be much more careful and probably want everything to be just so. It's best to call your bank and ask.

It depends on how different your nickname is. If your name is Joe Washington, and your nickname is Snoop Dogg, then they most likely will not accept it.

I believe the bank will allow you to deposit it into your own bank account but you may have to sign the back to just make sure it's you.

For deposit they will, to cash it you won't. Anybank can cash any check.

That's a tip for the future, make sure the name that they write on the check is the same that's on your account, to eliminate confusion. Bank tellers are a little slow.

It has to be the name on like the records of the bank doesnt it.
Like if Its TIm Smith , then thats what it has to be.

ha! It depends what the nickname is. if your name is Rick and they wrote Ricki maybe but if it is pookie maybe not.

If your trying to cash the check, they will not honor it. However you can write "Deposit Only" on the back and then it doesn't matter who's name is on the front.

No, It has to match your Id card, unless your name is christopher and they put chris joshua and they put josh ect ect but i dont think thats the case
