If someone has had a felony case - that person is not allowed to have any rights to purchase and own firearms.

Federal law prohibits people convicted of felonies from possessing, shipping, or transporting any firearm or ammunition for 10 years.

State laws may be more strict than the federal law and may make it illegal to ever possess a firearm if the person had been convicted.
