If someone punched me what could i do?

Make an assault complaint to the police.
If they feel in the mood then they will follow it up and possible charge the person.

You may legally defend yourself. The key word there is defend. It is allowable to go beyond defense as in beating someone senseless simply because they punched you.

Call the Police and get them arrested for assault. You are only allowed to get physical to the extent it is necessary for you to defend yourself. Therefore if they punched you and backed off that would be that. You are not allowed to punish them, Self defense also applies if you believe you are being physically threatened or about to be. For example if you said you were going to stab me and put your hand in your pocket I am likely ok to do what I think is necessary, I don't have to wait till you stab me and I don't have to see a knife. I just have to believe I am about to be attacked and a jury would have to believe me if I was charged, but if I battered you because I thought you deserved it or if I continued beyond what I thought was necessary to disarm/disable you, that would be assault.

You can file assault charges. My suggestion is to kick them in the balls and punch them back...but that is b/c I am never happy when punched in the face.

You can defend yourself. or curl up in a ball and cry and make them feel really bad. Or sue their parent's Home Owners Insurance.

if you are in a situation where you feel your going to become a victim of an *** ult , i.e someone is squaring up to you and you feel in dangered. then you dint have to wait until you have been as salted before you strike back , You can in fact give a "pre emptive strike" which is an act of self defence, an open palmed strike across the face is very effective. You want to do as little as possible to be able to back away from the danger and get to safety!! this is legal as uk law states, however if you keep lying into sum1 when you've already done enough to be able to walk away but ,say you just fight ,then you will be proberley be done for assalt!! A common phrase, REASONABLE AND NESACERRY!! Example if a man runs at you with a bottle targeting you ,it would be reasonable to pick up something close at hand to use on him to stop the danger getting you, And it would be nessacery as you are at rist of being a victim of an attack. REASONABLE " Every enviorment will be differant ,and the threat level, BUT REMEMBER you have to be able to proof your actions were in act of self defence to the police and that they were nessercery and reasonable for the volume of the threat!! hope that helps .

punch them back, in self defence. you can use reasonable force... what reasonable force actually is no one has figured out but i think if ya smash their jaw off then that's considered a little excessive by some ppl

you're allowed to do whatever it takes to defend yourself at the time, although shooting them is seen to be unreasonable as the guy who shot someone who burgled his house and tried to kill him found out..
