If it had ID, I'd call them. If it didn't I'd keep it. |

No, I wouldn't keep it. My personal integrity and honesty would require that I turn it into the police department....or, if there is identification in the wallet, to contact the person and return it completely intact.
Only a dishonest, immoral thief would keep it. |

I would turn it in and get a receipt. |

Ask yourself how you would feel if it happened to you. I personally wouldnt want anyone to suffer through my greed. |

I found several bills on a clinic waiting room chair once, about $80. Apparently someone forgot it. I turned it into the nurse. She looked at me like I was nuts.
The guy came in, worried, asking about his money, as we were leaving the building. We made his day. |

I would hand it in ,because that person who lost it probably needs it more than I. It's the honest thing to do! KARMA |

Sorry the person who found your purse didn't hand it in! I would hand it in to a police station but not everyone would. Like everyone else the person who lost it would be needing it for something. |

I'd hand it in to the police, if no one claims it after a certain amount of time you get to keep it. |

If it had ID then I would return it, I would probably take it to the cop shop, and hope no-one claimed it because within 40 days it would be mine! |

Turn it in - God sees everything we do. If you keep it you may feel like you're getting away with it now, but the day will come when you will have to answer for it. We all eventually eat the fruit of our labors. Everything each person does will come back to them. Whoever spent your money only got away with it for now. The fact that you even asked the question proves that you want to do the right thing. Do the right thing - and be blessed! |

the way you said loads of money shows me that youre defininiton of a lot of money is different from mine. Anything less tha $500 is not "LOADZAMONEY" to me. Also, I'd turn it in from 1 penny to 1 million. |

i would have turned it in because there might be something important that he/she needed in there and it should be returned right away. |

I would attempt to locate the owner and return it to him or her.
The ability to be proud of the person I see in the mirror is more important to me than whatever amount of money is in that wallet or purse. |

ask me 5 years ago and I would have said keep it.I was moving to texas, and 5 or 6 months pregnant with my first child. Went to the bathroom at a gas station and forgot the wallet in there and didnt notice until the next day. It had alot of cash in it which is what I was going to use to get on my feet, this was the first time I had not lived with parents. It had my social and all of my dead brothers senior pictures in it. You never know the persons situation (it shouldnt matter regardless, its their money they earned it) but anyways, you might be keeping someones money that needed the money to feed their children, or needed the money so they wouldnt be put out on the street or something. Sadly, unless its a senior citizen or a mature adult, you probably wont get your wallett back :( |

Hand it in to the nearest Police Station as I have done in the past. I would hope that somebody would do the same if it was mine. |

There is a thing called stealing by finding which I think says it all.
I hope I would hand it in (indeed I would 'cos I like to sleep at night.)
I think I would write to the owner via his bank (I think you will have a bankers card in that lot) and tell them you have found the wallet so they can contact you. Alternatively hand it in to the police or the Bank and get a receipt for it.
It is not yours so do not just keep it |

I would hand it in but then I'm bound to say that!
On a serious note though, if you hand it in and make a claim on it if the owner doesn't come forwards then your conscience is clear if its not claimed.
I imagine you weren't happy when your wallet/purse was lost and I wouldn't be if it was mine that was lost either! |

I would hand it in to the nearest police station. If you don't do that you are guilty of an offence - "Theft by Finding" - and its imprisonable. |

By law it should be at least reported to the police. Appropriate steps should be taken to locate the owner and if they do not come forward in (I think 28 days), the property becomes the finders.
The finder if caught in the possession of such an item could be looking at a theft by finding charge! |

I did ,,, the address of the owner was in the wallet so I took it to him. he looked at me agog. I did not hang around for any reward because i did not return it for that reason. Do unto others as you would like them to do to you thats my motto. |

I once found £40 in a public place. I handed it in and because no one claimed it I got the money anyway. I would always hand in money that I found. You don't know who it belongs to or how much they need it. |

well normally i would hand it in to the police but when iv lost mine no one hands that in so no i would not id keep it but then i would end up feeling guilty as I'm an honest person if it where a pensioners i would defiantly give it in |
|

rida
|
i would only give it in, if contains the personz details. but if it was just the money, you cant look to get it back because 1) they dont kno who it belong to and 2) they ent gonna give it to the police caz they would jus have it for them self, so that person might just keep it |

Find it very insulting that someone here said it would only be returned by older people. Why are people so ageist towards youth nowadays? Yes, there's alot of problem children out there but there's also good ones. I'm 15. Yesterday, I found a purse and handed it in. |
