Hello Anita. It is good that you recognize your responsibility in a moment of carelessness. The main point is that no one was actually hurt and no collision occurred. As such, no actual violation of vehicular law occurred.

The rule about bus driver's turning in plate numbers refers to drivers who pass them while they have the stop driving lights flashing while picking up or dropping off children. They have no powers to refer everything they see to police for citations and even if they did, there was no collision in your statement.

Chalk it up to a momentary mental lapse and learn from the experience. We have all done the same sometime in our past.
