If you fail a lie detector test...do they give you a chance to explain the questions that they found came out deceptive? Do other police departments find out that you failed and no longer will give you consideration either? Anyone have any idea how that works?

They will normally discuss the results with you. There is no requirement to give you the test again, that is up to the department.
They would not share the results for liability reasons. |

You've got a chance to dispute it, but it's pointless. They are pretty much lazy and once you show deception, they eliminate you. If you can prove that it was a false positive, they'll just find another reason to eliminate you. |

Look up on the net the reliability of these test...most defense attorneys will advise against them..I know, "if I refuse then I must be guilty" That is NOT TRUE! There are too many factors to consider in administering the test. I happen to know of two people who took the test and failed but all forensic evidence (such as DNA) proved their innocence. They were beside themselves when they failed because they knew they were telling the truth. They have gone against many INNOCENT people |

If you fail a lie detector test, they don't care what your excuses are, that is that. You'll get a notice saying you didn't pass and they're done with you. The best way to not fail is to not lie. |
