if you get pulled over by the police for a traffic stop as in going over the spped limit.not stopping at a stop sign etc.. can the officer ask the passenger for their name or ID

Sure. Said passenger can also refuse to give it. Of course, that will certainly draw suspicion from the officer. |

Happens all the time.
If you're black, they'll put you cuffs while they check on you.
The cop will say it's for his safety.
But, if 2 old white women get pulled over, he won't cuff the passenger. Won't even ask for the passenger's i.d. |
