Your house would be the best place to look. Many officers use their 'down time' to locate wanted persons. Some agencies have officers assigned to execute arrest warrants exclusively. So, it's not out of the question. |

Can they, absolutely. Often times the beat officers get a list of outstanding warrants, and will often attempt to serve them during down time. Additionally, detectives get assigned the cases and may be looking. Where I work, the justice courts have marshals, and that is all they do. |

Not usually, but if an officer drives by your house, knows of the outstanding warrant, you could expect a knock to follow. Most likely you'll get nabbed on your next traffic violation, or an ID check if you get in a bar fight and police are called, if you call police on another matter and the officer asks you "ever been in trouble with the law??" don't lie, as sometimes I'll background a person if they appear overly nervous.
Your best bet if you are so worried about this is go down , turn yourself in, get it dealt with, if you have the warrant issued because of failing to appear just don't expect the Judge to give you O/R (own recognizance) without some form of assurity. |

Depends on how zealous the local police are. When Dallas County gets low on funds, they will sometimes do a mass round up of all people with warrants, going to their homes and jobs to arrest them. I had a friend that was arrested at her home for a $40 hot check.
So yeah, it's a possibility.
You should call the court house and make payment arrangements. But make sure you send someone else up there to actually make the payment. I've heard of people going up to pay out a warrant and getting arrested just so they can charge you the extra court fees. |

It depends, but probably not. They'll just wait until they run into you for some reason and run your license. Unless they have too much time. |

Absolutely. Sometimes we get too many citizen complaints about a particular apartment complex or house. One quick way to clean up the area and appease the concerned citizens is to grab up all the people with warrants.
In my opinion, you should communicate with the courts and find a way to take care of the warrant. Petty theft is fairly minor that you are most likely looking at fines and restitution. Take care of it on your own terms (as much as the courts allow) rather than find yourself arrested for it because of some silly traffic stop. Murphy's Law dictates that you will be arrested on a Friday during a holiday weekend. |

why,do you have a warrant? |

If they have some extra time on their hands. You're not really a top priority.
Depends on your police department, but if you know you have a warrant out and for a lessor crime like that, you should just turn yourself in. Most cases end in plea bargains and you can probably get off fairly easy - that said, if you run, you don't get any favors. |

If we have some free time we go arrest people on warrants. Turn yourself in and it will look better for you. |

It depends on your area, if the arrest records look like they are on the shy side number wise, some areas will pull up all the warrants in an area and go right down the list. Checking their home address and their employers place of business, if your still in school they will come there too. It would be a real good idea to get it taken care of, and will look a lot better if you go to them than them catching you in a warrant sweep. Not only that if you have a good job and have no other record you may get away with restitution, and community service. If your records not to bad, and you have a good job and haven't done anything since the warrant, you may get some time but because of you having a good job you might get to do your time by doing it on weekends. Don't wait every day the warrant isn't taken care of makes judges think your hiding because you have done more than that and they like to make examples out of people like you. Good Luck |

in general NO but if you get stopped for a traffic problem and they run your name it will come up or you get in trouble with the law in in other way they will run your name and it will show up.
Just being in a car and its stopped and the are talking to driver who isn't you, they can run ever body else's name in car just to see if they are wanted.
this will catch up to you sooner or later, probably sooner!
If your smart you will go face the music on your own, as it will look much better on you than they come looking for you. |

They will more often than not, come to your house to see if you are there. But, no, they have other things to do than search for a petty thief warrant. But why not just pay the 50 dollar warrant fee and get rid of it?! |
