If you smoke a bong in public, would you get arrested?

if its tobacco, then most likely no.
but i would not recommend you do that. I'm sure it would be really hard explaining to everyone that it's tobacco.

The reason it is legal to sell bongs is for smoking tobacco. I had a friend who smoked tobacco out of a so called "pot" pipe and someone called the police on him. It was funny when the cop found out there was nothing illegal in it. You may get searched, they may test your bong, but they wont arrest you if you don't have anything illegal.

EDIT- Just to let you know he smoked it like that everywhere for over a month before anyone called the police... I wonder if it happens any faster with a bong? Most people know the smell of tobacco/pot/what ever, I think that is why it took so long for someone to call.

I would hope not! But it would look suspicious, and the cops ould drag you to the station and check it out, for sure.

The only reason I could see that smoking a "BONG" in public would be against the law is if it smelled funny....like Marijuana for instance.........Please......Law Enforcement Officers know what marijuana smells like and can smell it for a great distance. The only reason that would have to test it was for court documentation...........and prosecution............Maryjane smells like nothing else so it is easy to identify...................

I think the Feds have cracked down on certain types of smoking devices. You cannot legally buy a bong anymore. (Remember Tommy Chongs arrest?)
Even if you were using it for tobacco only, technically they could arrest you for possession of paraphernalia.

I worked in a tobacco shop and we were allowed to sell bongs because they are not necessarily for the use of illegal drugs. (They could also be classified as ornaments).

If a policeman saw you smoking one though I should imagine you may get told sternly to stop.

If it is tobacco, then what is illegal about it? As long as you can prove its contents they shouldn't be able to arrest you.

Interesting question. The actual act of smoking would be fine if it was just tobacco, but the cops might want to confiscate the bong and check it for marijuana resin. I really don't know how that would work though. Try it out and let us know.

You'd have to look up your laws in Australia. The tobacco part is fine, but the BONG is considered "drug paraphernalia" in many places. Here, in California it's illegal and they "could" arrest you.
