We'll it's not my only ambition, I also want to become a camera operator, but that field is very competitive. Any tips?

Well as far as competition goes out of all the people in the US that pass a basic test for police only 1 out of every 8 makes it to the street as a police officer.
What is required depends on the state and the specific department you want to be an officer in.
All states have minimum standards and requirements for police officers. They are posted on official state web sites. Then each department can have more requirements if they wish. You have to check with the departments you may want to join.
My first full time job was as a photographer, all I had to do is show the studio head my portfolio, took maybe 30 minutes to get hired.
It took 5 years to get hired as a police officer after acing the basic test. |

To become a police officer, the requirement for even being considered for the Academy is that you are at the minimum age of 18 years old, with a clean criminal record and that you've got a driver's license. After that you'll face physical requirements, and they'll also check your health, mentally and physically.
