I was wondering about going about getting a permit for a gun, but i don't know how to go about it, and if i do get a permit does it allow me to carry it where ever or is it a special rule of carrying a gun, i reside in new jersey. Thank you in advance..

You go to your local police department to get an application for a permit to purchase a handgun, or a firearms purchaser ID card to purchase long guns. You will have to provide references and fingerprints.
You cannot carry a handgun anywhere in New Jersey without a permit to carry. Permits to carry are only granted if you have a particular need for it, and they are VERY RARELY granted. Usually you would have to have a job like a security guard or armored car driver, and then the permit would allow you to carry ONLY while on duty.
The gun laws recently changed in New Jersey, and carrying a handgun without a carry permit now carries a sentence of five to ten years State Prison, no probation, it doesn't matter if the gun is unloaded. No kidding, don't even think about carrying a gun in NJ without a carry permit (which is different from a permit to purchase a handgun). |
