what time do teens under the age of 18 have to be home in the summer in illinois? I know that now it is 10 pm on the weekdays and 11pm on weekends, but what is it in the summer? thanks

I thought your question was a joke, so I checked it out. A curfew? I can't believe the gall of it.
Well, according to the article cited below the hours are the same year-round: "Illinois' new curfew law, which went into effect about six months ago, says teens 17 and younger can't be driving past 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and past 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday."
Let me add by saying this is ridiculous. You should see how European teenagers live. There are few onerous rules, and hence they seem to be much more responsible and adult than their American counterparts. Kids here, starting around age 15, routinely travel to other countries unchaperoned, alcohol is not a problem, drug use is very, very low, teen pregnancy is rare, and hence one thing seems clear: America makes these problems WORSE by making everything "forbidden fruit". |

It doesn't change just because it's summer. You're also off on your times. As of Jan 1, 2008, the nighttime driving restriction is in place Sunday-Thursday, 10 p.m-6 a.m., and Friday-Saturday, 11 p.m.-6 a.m. for drivers under the age of 18.
Exceptions are made if the driver is going to or from work or school, with an adult, or it is an emergency situation. |
